i have an access cab and a 4 month old and a rear facing seat does fit reasonably well, albeit with the front seat moved up a bit and fairly upright, but it's still useable for short drives. looking at wilsonthedog's picture, though, i'm surprised at how little room there is in the back of a dc. i don't think it's much more than the ac (but the dc seats, obviously, are way better). i think we actually have a car seat advantage because the back seat folds flat so the seat isn't tilted toward the rear.
anyway, frvrngn, if it doesn't work in the middle, i'd do what 06dak suggested and get a second seat base, one in each car. during the week when you don't have anyone in the passenger seat anyway, just move it up. heck, flip it forward and use the seat back as changing table! and congrats on having a baby! it's awesome!
