It's not that I'm not interested in it, it's just that it doesn't make financial and practical sense to lift and put 35's on a truck that gets driven this much. This has to be my dependable DD...the Mustang is my mod toy. :)

Thanks for the input everyone! I think I'm going to go with a set of solid H/T or similar tire, like the Michelin MS2 or Grabber HT (or whatever it's called). Although the guy that's getting 80k out of his Michelin A/Ts...that's impressive.

Well...I didn't follow my own head, and instead went with my heart. Got some 265/70/17 Wrangler Armortech's put on today. They're supposed to be a quieter, long lasting A/T tire (come with a 60k mile warranty). They're not BFGs or anything, but I still think they look good. $157 a tire. Pic to follow

I don’t know what I could have gotten with the Dunlop tires because I replaced them right away. I was running Goodyear Silent Armor (A/T) P rated 245/70R 16’s on stock steel wheels and got 21mpg highway at 70mph. I got an average of 19mpg all around. When I replaced my tires at 50K I went with Goodyear Silent Armor’s again but this time in a load rand E tire – same size. I also installed the 16” OEM alloy wheels at the same time. The lighter wheels must be compensating for the heavier tires because my MPG is the same. In fact I did a 200 mile highway test last week at 63mph with cruise control the entire trip and pulled 24.5MPG during that stretch – I believe that is about the best I could possibly ever get. I normally don’t drive like that.

look up the weight of your stock tires online and compare it to the weight of whatever tires you want to get.

Haven't had a computer all week but I'll get a pic up tonight for you guys! I'm enjoying them but I do think I'll lose a bit. It also seems a tad sluggish but I think that's just in my head.

I have the goodyear duratrac on my truck (awesome tire)... i went up a bit on the aspect ratio... I haven't able to get a good reading on these since summer is over. My stock tire in the summer I can get over 400 miles in the tank. I just got these new tires about a month ago... but in the fall and winter, i warm up the truck for 5-7 minutes before I start driving... that has decrease my MPG... so I get like 340 to the tank.
Once winter really sets in here in jersey... about 20 degrees... I warm up the truck for like 15 mins!! I get maybe 280-300 miles on the tank!! Also remember people winter gas gives horrible MPG because they put this additives in the gasoline it will make it easy to start the truck!

    .

I have a "Light AT Tire" ... aka ... Michelin LTX AT2 ... and my mileage is the same or maybe a bit better than the OEM BFGs.

Now, I am running the Michelin LTX AT2s at 36 psi all around and my mileage is up about 1 MPG and I love these tires for their grip too.

Here's the pic. It's not the best, but you get the idea. And I think I originally called them "Armortech", but they're actually Armortracs. Last tank of gas was back to normal, so it appears that no difference in mileage. Very happy with my decision.

I wish it were that easy! MPG does matter in my case unfortunately.
