Octane rating isn't going to change a thing, all auto makers are geared to 87 octane unleaded regular for D.O.T. & EPA regulations. Seeing how its so new, it could be an ECU grounding issue. Any codes being thrown ??

So far, haven't heard anything about anything from the dealer. The dealer I bought it from is closed today so I took it to another one.

I beginning to wonder if my dealer has a 60 day buy back guarantee.

Just heard from one of the service managers. They've figured out it was a coil pack. They swapped it out and now it's good to go. I sure hope so. Now I'm waiting on the shuttle service to pick me up.

    UPDATE

The problem came back so I took it to the dealer I brought it from and told them I'm giving it back. I was told they couldn't take it back because it was titled 2 days later so I got the mangaer involved. I couldn't even leave for a loaner car because their service department was closed. They said I would have to contact TOYOTA directly to give it back. If they won't take it back, I think it would be fair to at least trade me for another new truck just like it. Funny thing is, the manager drove it around the block and it drove just fine.

Later the next day, guess what? It came back

I sent Toyota an email this morning explaining the whole thing. I'm pretty upset..mainly sad. This is a brand new truck and this shouldn't happen.

Man that sucks. Your state should have a lemon law. When I purchased mine, I had to sign a thing indicating that I understood the lemon law, that If I had to bring the truck back more than 3 times for the same problem, I could get a different new one at no cost.

Did they ever figure out anything with your truck?

The problem comes and goes. Nothing new.

Toyota is going to send me some paper work to make a claim through the National Center for Dispute Settlement (NCDS) to resolve my request for vehicle buy-back or vehicle replacement through mediation/arbitration

    Long story short

A rep called me today to further discuss the issue and he almost sounded like he didn't believe me, but kept aplogizing about the issue.

This process can take up to 40 days. :\

    Wish me luck.

Wow, thats really disspointing. I hate to heard guys who buy new trucks and have problems. If they dont let your trade it for another one, hopefully atleast they will fix the problem. GL

In all honesty, this whole thing has kept me from visiting Tacoma sites. I was pumped about learning everything I could about these trucks. Everything just flew out the window.

This is my 3rd Tacoma and never had ANY problems until now.

Who knows? Maybe it's something very minor. I hope so. I'm taking it to the dealer I bought it from this weekend.

Well once again, GL, with the trouble shooting. I hope for you sake that its a minor problem that can be fixed easily/quickly and you can get that good feeling back about your truck.

If i were you i'd take your truck to a respectable mechanic in your area, get his opinion and let him diagnose your truck. At that point either take it back to the stealership or let him fix it. You are right a new truck shouldn't do that, and if they don't fix it they should replace it.

Haha. It ended up being a bad fuel rail. It's been swapped and zero problems since.
