looked up arctic trucks flares as some had mentioned and I'd buy something along those lines of at35 or even the at38 if available

Yeah, Bushwhacker is clearly the competition.

Best way to distinguish from them is lose the bolt heads.

2nd best way is more affordable price.

Aside from that, it's all going to the the line - how it looks, and no one can describe that in a post.

Since we are on the topic, I am assuming that Double Cab short box flares fit only exactly that. BUT, do the Double Cab long box flares fit the 2 door Taco?

yeah...the DC SB flares will just fit it, but the LB flares should fit reg cabs, access cabs, and DC LBs (minus the x-runners that wouldnt be buying these anyways)

I think that we need to put function first, then let form follow naturally.
The highest percentage of aftermarket tires are 285/70 or 285/75. As a result, design the flare to provide added clearance and protection. Once you've realized your restrictions, you can focus on how the flare needs to be molded for looks.

Next, attempt to accommodate larger diameter tires for the guys that have had to resort to completely removing flares. If this impacts looks negatively or leads to a separate version, you might want to do an analysis of who's going to buy them.

I think your past design is a really great starting spot. I'd keep the ridge that runs down the middle of the flare, but maybe soften it to match the stock flare of the 2nd gen. The important part is watching how the flare meets with the body. Toyota took the trick of adding that piece of rubber to help with the mating, rather than flow the bumper into the body.

You can buy the flares same as on the Icelandic Taco. They are not from arctic truck but are the same. Some people from TW have contacted the companies that make them and they are expensive and the shipment costs are high. www.formverk.is is one company that makes flares for Tacoma.

    Build thread in sig...
i didn't read through all of the pages, so hopefully this isn't redundant.

how about a flare that comes with a template for cutting. that way, you can take the grinder to your existing sheet metal body panels (as you have to do to fix flare busting 35s) after trimming the body panel itsself, the flare would require new holes (per the template), that way you could have a fairly factoy look and be able to easily run 35s on a 3'' lift without going to glass

sorry if that doesn't makesense, i can try to explain it again if itdoesn't
