so that damn vibration is back and turns out its not the steering cap. now my whole truck shakes when the engine is cold and the wheel is slightly turned to the left... i took it to the dealership and they claim they don't feel anything. so i get my invoice and check this...

he put-- "note- has had lots of exhaust and suspension modifications"

my suspension is stock trd sport and he claims its aftermarket, and to make things even funnier since the wheels are 17 stock sport wheels he thought that was aftermarket and can cause the vibrations. everything is stock on my truck except for my exhaust flow. and this is what toyota tells me??

the thing is that ive been going to this guy for over 7 years. i used to take my 98 there and they've always done a good job and i take my 06 to get the 30,000 service done and now its fucked up. the guy always seemed legit and now he thinks my suspension and wheels are aftermarket. im gonna take the truck back to him in the morning. but of course everytime u take it there the problem doesnt happen

    is it new or used?
if its used what kinda warranty was on it when you bought it?
is the warranty through dealer or still manafacturers?
i work at a toyota dealership so i can help you get this fixed.

Bring it into any toyota dealer and tell them you want a technician to drive it. document and keep track of everything you do.

how long has this been going on? have you let anyone else drive your truck?

its a TOYOTA so you can go to any dealer. if your having a bad experience with one dealer then move on to the next one till you find ppl that you get along with.

if your in LA I used to work at I-10 out in indio and can hook you up with good people out there but its kind of a drive for you.

aren't the dealerships great!?! I'd give him another chance to fix it and make sure he corrects his notes. You don't want suspension upgrades on your record.

that's a great way to ensure top quality service on your return visits. After I vowed to never go back to Lakeside, that's when I tore them a new one.

yea im being very lenient with them cuz ive been goin there for so long and they only charge me for the 4cyl price when i get service done so i kinda get hooked up... but if they dont find this problem within the next few weeks im definitely gonna rip them a new asshole

they already screw on this service... does not hurt to say something back when you already know u going back to another dealer to get it done!!

we are stating the facts that they can't fix the car, also put false accusation and claims on the vehicles...I would be so pissed off!!!

Money dont grow on tree, they are trying to rip us off! NOT COOL!

I would ask the guy to join me on the lot and ask if all the new sports have aftermarket wheels and suspension. Seeing as they have the same stuff, it must be aftermarket!

its a rough rubbing vibration sound. it only happens when the engine is cold or little warm and happens when i idle from a dead stop, release the brake pedal and turn the wheel a bit and feel the shake. if i step on the pedal and go i dont feel it. so it happens when im going really slow on a turn between fully locked and straight

i feel the shake in the floor, steering wheel, the whole damn truck

I hear you man! I've got a highway vibration around 70mph that I feel through the entire truck when it's just me. That kind of stuff really bothers me too. They drive it and say they can't feel it, but when I'm cruising at the right speed it's so annoying! I've also had it in for a shaky steering wheel on the highway three times. I've only owned the truck since April.

When they open a new dealership up around here soon I'll go over there and see if they're any different.

ur issue might be an alignment issue since its happening during high speeds. mine doesnt do it when im going in speed only does it when i turn the wheel and let go of the brake (i mainly do this when i park or leave out of a parking space)

so im assuming it only does it when im going 1-3mph

Yea, a combination of balance and alignment. Maybe some issue with the two-piece drive shaft too.

It's really the difficulty to get the dealership to recognize that a problem exists that's the problem!
