Thumbs up

Excellent info. I've had my Taco about a month now and that light started blinking last night and was a little concerned but figured it was something like this. Thanks alot! As far as the Syn thoughts it's a must have! Better heat protection, helps prevent seals from cracking, oh and the obvious best lubrication for every mile. Mobil 1 is my recommendation.

did u transfer the tpms sensors to the new wheels? if you did, just fill them up and it should go off. i believe they come on when a tire hits 25psi, but if that won't reset the light with just putting in air then trying to battery disconnect for 15 minutes to reset the whole computer

If you tranfered the sensors to to new rims. Air the tires and spare where you are going to run them. While stoped, turn key to on and push the reset button until the light blinks three times, release and leave the key on for approx. 3 min. then off. If this doesn't work repeat. Once done, if one of your tires including the spare varies by more than 2 psi either way the light will come on. This is in your manual as well.

Reset Maint Reqd light

I was very excited to see the part on resetting the light but when I tried it the light stays on. Does it matter wether you use trip a or b? I tried both and it reset the mileage but not the light.
I have been trying to get a service manual and I prefer the haynes manuals but they have not come out with one for a 2006 model. Do you know if the reset for the 2006 is any different? Mine has been on for thousands of miles as I also change my own oil (I prefer Amsoil it's synthetic and Awesome!) I will be going on my second oil change and I have 33,000 miles on my truck.
And to add to the post about the muffler I would love to change out my system since I live in South Carolina there are no inspections so....

that's fine. the maint reqd light comes on automatically based solely on mileage, not on any issues or problems detected.

The "maint req" light will come on every 5000 miles, as it is set by Toyota, that is their standard setting for oil and filter changes, hoping to drum up more business for their dealerships.
My light came on a 500 miles ago, it sure is a pain to look at . I do not plan my oil change until it reaches 6200 . I use Mobil 1 and this is just about the right mileage when the oil starts to get dirty.
It also will co-inside with my maint schedule for the upcoming winter.
I really wish there was a way to shut the light off , other than resetting it after the oil change.

Jeff, just shut it off now. You know when you're going to change your oil, right? You're not relying on the light as a reminder, so go ahead and reset it now. NOW, Jeff

hate2work, I tried to reset it and I believe that you have to change your oil and then reset it, of course I could be wrong.

OOps, didn't catch that your post about just changing your oil was from last year.

Yeah, you're prolly gonna have to wait til you do the change. I'm guessing they put a sensor somewhere that lets you reset only after the change.

Has anyone tried resetting the light when it's not on? I'm in the same situation as Jeff. Light comes on but the oil change on my schedule isn't for another 2000 miles. I hate driving with the thing on for that long, it's just annoying. Maybe I'll try the reset procedure when the light isn't on and see if that starts the 5,000 over again...
