Good job on the photoshop , and giving us a wake up call. I'm now even more greatful for my gen2 .
So , are we ready for the ridgeline and element owners who buy that gen 3 to swamp TW with questions like "why isnt it awd like my honda , why cant i use 4wd on dry pavement?".......
Yea , that front end , it has potential , maybe alter the angle slightly down from the sides...

I kinda like it. I think the front end looks awesome. The new 4Runners are awesome, so the Taco should be too

Honestly I really like it. Digging the boxiness of it. I kinda wish the tacoma would go back towards being a compact truck because thats originally what it was, not a almost-full size minus the V8.

If I was a betting man...I'd say this is the direction Toyota is gonna go with for the next gen.

Although, I like to see a departure from sharing 4runner styling.

Did they have any other info regarding the mechanical specs? I'm wondering if we'll finally see a 6sp auto?

The current 4 cylinder, 4sp auto 4x4 is a dog IMO. I would never consider one as is. I really think they need to add Dual VVT-I and a 6sp auto to the I4 if they plan on selling any quantity of 4 cylinder 4x4 Tacomas.

One other thought regarding any mechanical changes on a new Tacoma.

Does anyone think conservative Toyota will switch to electric power steering on the Tacoma? The 2011 F150 has electric power steering on all but the largest engine. If it electric power steering can work on a full size truck why not the Tacoma?

I like the front ends on the new 4-runners. I'm sure toyota will smooth out the rest of the truck. If they offer the 3.0L (or a newer version) diesel, I'm buyin a new truck :D
Black chop looks awesome too BTW

I like the black photoshop but need to change rear light. Rear light look too ugly for the rear of pick up truck.

Why on earth would they put a high end transmission and expensive technology in the fleet sales truck?

No, the good transmission and engines will remain in the high 20s price range. People don't buy strippers for performance, they buy them for economy.

I didn't get any additional info, but if I were a betting man, look for the transmissions present in the current 4runner to show up. IIRC the current 4runner has the same transmission as our trucks...and as well it should. 5 cogs is plenty for these mills, and it was originally mated to the 4.7L V8, so really, it's overbuilt for our application...not that I mind.

Anxiously waiting to see what the 3rd gen will look like. I will have my other brand truck (Nissan) paid for in a couple of months. At least I got some time to save some big $$$ for down payment. Just waiting to see if I do a 2nd or 3rd gen.

i seen a 4 runner the other day that someone had installed the arb bumper, and you have to cut the stock front bumper in half because the grill and bumper and all is one peice, so they had to cut it to make it fit and look right.. its crazy to hack up a brand new $40,000 vehicle ha ha

Thinking of buying a 2011, but that shows promise. I like the 4Runner interior as well which I can only assume will be similar. I qualify for the College Graduate Program until December 2010 which is a $1000 dollar rebate and I really like the TRD Off Road 4x4. However, if the 3rd gen is coming out in 2012, that has me second guessing. What do you guys think? Is the $1000 rebate worth going with the 2nd gen or perhaps waiting until perhaps summer for the 2012's? I've often heard, first year models are some you may want to shy away from but I'm liking the propect of the 3rd gen.

Yeah, I like this. Looks tough. the very first pic in this thread was good, but extend that rear door a little more and maybe everything will come together.
