Well dont by used then, and yes where i go we dont have cellphone towers and YES i have two cell phones, i rely on CB's anytime i hunt considering 1. we dont have cell phone service within a 100 mile radius and 2. its easier then digging in your pocket to dial a number. It also helps me avoid traffic on long drives and updates me on the Weather. ALL without m having to look at my cell phone. So in my view it reduces my chance of having an accident.

For everyone else thanks for the input, keep it coming

I don't have a single hole or any evidence that I ever had my CB in my truck if I choose to remove it.

Ever been in the mountains? Spend a weekend anywhere that there isn't cell service when you need to communicate. You'll change your tune quickly. A great deal of us have them for various reasons.

Properly installed radio equipment does not affect trade-in or resale value. Even an NMO mount drilled through the roof is either covered with a chrome or body color cap, or removed and replaced with a body plug if the new owner does not want an antenna installed.

They aren't intended for everyday use. They're not used around town or on the freeway, they're used on the trail. Cell phones don't work if you don't have a cell tower nearby. You'd need a sat phone if you want to make a phone call. Also, you can talk to everyone in the group at once.

Plus, a cb doesn't necessarily have to be mounted. I have one of the small handheld cbs that just plugs into the cigarette lighter. No mounting necessary. When I'm done, I just stow it away.

I have a DX19 mounted on my dash via velcro and my dashmat on top protecting it from the sun. Antennas are generic. They all work. I recommend one that is tunable and getting the unit "ungoverned".

Channel 19 is normally the truckers channel, they let all others know where the speed traps are..channel 9 is the emergency channel [like dialing 911] a lot of law enforcement moniter this channel

Where'd you get the mount and does it work well with the cap?

That looks familiar! Eric did a nice job. really needs to be a thinner stronger Stainless Steel, But it gets the job done and looks good. I did the original two with a jig saw, bench vise and a hand drill.
