    Yes! Looking good.

I should have pics of my setup next week some time. I ordered my bike rack shortly ago and am stopping by HD to check the viability of using some galvanized 3/4" piping. It was suggested in this thread; I just want to check the wall thickness to see how durable it will be. I'm hoping the wall thickness is comparable or better than Yakima's so as to prevent flex in the bars.

I'm thinking a couple coats of sprayed on plasti-dip will coat it up nicely.

The thickness should be about the same. I thought about making some myself, but after some investigation found out that Thule & Yakima have a patented process/coating for their crossbars & I figured I'd just use theirs'. Let me know how that works out for you.

    Hi guys,
Thanks for all your support & encouragement! I really appreciate it! Here are some new picts of Drew's Truck Cover setup with the L2S Brackets. I know there has been some questions about the Tonnaeu/Cover application & I didn't have any picts until now.

    Beautiful Rig Josh!
I'm not sure the Yakima Space Cadet posted on the other link, so I'll post it again here. Here is how the Space Cadet looks on a short bed. The carrier baskets (Load Warrior & Cadet, etc.) are OK mounted on a crossbar without a gap between the bed rail & crossbars. However, the Yakima & Thule Surfboard carriers need at least a 3" gap to loop the strap over the end of the crossbar.

As a side note: using a 58" crossbar, the Baskets will fit inside a shell which really organizes the truck shell. I was kinda against having a shell until I saw this application. It looks awesome & I know of off roaders that utilize the shell/bed space by putting their spare tire & jack on the basket. (I have pictures if anyone is interested)

I used the square LS2 sport racks with 65-inch thule load bars. The fit is awesome and the square bars are just the right length. I can fit my two kayaks side by side. I also bought some 1" pipe insulation pieces to use a pads so the kayaks grip the rack better.

The weight of the kayaks is just right to favor the front of the truck,i.e. more load is resting on the bars than is cantilevered off the back bar. Took it for a test drive any they don't move at all with the nylon straps cranked down.

I spent about $40 total and a few hours wandering around Home Depot for this. The crossbars are EMT conduit ($10 for 10ft), brackets do not rely on the cleats which is the main reason I went this route (and didnt want to buy $100+ crossbars/mounts). There's a spring nut inside the bed rail and bars are secured with U bolts. Capped the tubes with rubber cane/furniture endcaps($2Walmart). Sprayed the whole system with Textured Rustoleum for Coolness factor. White Pass should be opening up soon!
L2S system does look more quality, and the Tonnaeu cover fitment looks amazing as well. Keep up the good work!

Got my rack installed looks great and all, but! one of the screws that secures the bars broke! I have to drill it out now! :( and try to get a new screw! this sucks!!!

Anyone got any ideas? can I possibly find a screw that wont rust or that is stronger?

Dont get the Yakima one! the round bars alway turn and if you tighten the screws too tight they could break bc theyre so small and weak.

Im thinking about selling mine and getting the Thule one.. The brackets on these should really be thicker so they can use a stronger thicker screw for securing the bars...
    just MO...

Does anyone know if there are some L2S Yakima brackets for my cleats? The site is sold out. Any help would be appreciated.
