Gulf States Toyota Incentives

I've been looking to buy junior his first new truck - he's 17 years old. I agreed to a new one. Turns out he is quite partial to Taco's as he learned to drive in my 07 d-cab and mom's 97 4runner ltd (original owner 225K miles, she wont part with it). We've decided on an 08 Prerunner access cab, v6, auto, in Black, just like Dad's. I've been watching the rebates and incentives closely over the past few weeks. The current program is $750 cash back on 08 regular and access cabs, and $2000 on d-cabs. I'm in the Gulf States Region. This program ends today - 7/31. Since 09's are already all over the place and there are plenty of 08's left, I expect the rebates/incentives to increase on the access cabs and d-cabs starting tomorrow. Anyone have inside information on what the new incentives will be for August? When I bought my 07, d-cab rebates for 06 models were up to $3000 in the 4th qtr. Anyone in GulfStates buy an 07 access cab late last year when 08's were on the lot? What was your rebate? Thanks.

None of this is inside information, but just my opinion...

Those are the same incentives they had when I bought my 08' 4 months ago. I suggest waiting (if you can), and seeing what they do to get rid of the 08's. It will be harder to find what he wants, but you will get a better deal at that point.

Thanks 007.

New programs posted today. $2000 cashback all Tacoma V-6 models through 9/2, $500 cashback on 4 bangers.

Up to 7/31, $2000 was only offered on D-cabs, all others had $750 regardless of engine.

Both GST and SET for what it's worth seem to have better incentives at just about any given time. It's not always easy to guess monthly/quarterly changes since like most companies; they are not releasing then till the last minuet. What is a little harder to find out is the "dealer money" that is not published, that dealers can use to offer a better price if they so desire.

I waited it out. This weekend purchased 08 PreRunner Access Cab, 4.0 Auto - base model for Junior. Toyota of Bourne. Got $2000 from Gulf States and another $2000 from dealership. Sticker was 21745, I got it for 17745. I was 19080 out the door. I had heard a radio add saying $4000 off all 2008 Taco's. I knew they had this truck on the lot and what it sticker'd for. I called them and said I'd take it. They said they got the add wrong at first - owner's son is running the marketing dept.. - but they honored the price. They also pulled the add. I called around the San Antonio, San Marcos and Austin delaerships - no one could come close to this price, so I figured their story about the owner's son was legit. Reportedly, the $4000 off deal was supposed to be on d-cabs only.
I figure I'll give it a month before getting suspension TSB - this time while the truck is still under warranty.

Cudos to the dealer for honoring a price mistake.

Your kid's one lucky young man. Make sure you remind him of it daily.

Thanks guys.... He's a good kid... Didnt hand it to him on a silver platter though, I had him save $1000 over the summer as a prerequisite. He gets to keep the grand, in savings, but had he not got there, no truck....

Excellent lesson.

...My parent's made me save up $2000 for my Honda Accord. They spent $850 on it PLUS my $2000. Oh well, I owned the car.

Good times...
