tons of lights on! need help!

-check engine light on
-(break!) light on
-abs light on
-speedo not working
-a/c & heater fan not working
-windows will not roll down
-rear diff lock light is on (the red one with the x over the rear axle) BUT I DONT EVEN HAVE A REAR DIFF LOCK ON MY TRUCK!

does anyone know what is going on?

this started after attempting the "anytime fog light mod." so any ideas?

yeah i was kinda figureing that it was one, but which fuse would do ALL OF THAT???

try reversing the foglight mod? check all wires for slices / shorts

 

Sounds like you tapped into the wrong wire.. lol
I originally tapped into the wrong wire when I did it, but only the check engine light came on.. It went off when I redid it.. but dang... idk what to tell ya.. good luck

i already reversed it, put everything back to stock, and this morning when i started up the truck all that came on.......idk whats going on

 

Frankly, I doubt it is a fuse; if it is it would need to be one that is involved in the ECU in some major way.

I would suspect that a more likely senario is an inadvertant short, either during the work or actually installed ( ie. wrong wire in wrong position, etc) or something fried the ECU (or some portion of it).

Seems to me that it is time to tow it to somewhere that has the electronics to chase it down.

 

Disconnect the battery for a while then reconnect it.

Otherwise...something definitely got screwed up during modding.

 

the weird part is that is still drives fine, i drove it to school this morning and it worked fine.

 

Well you were fiddling around with your wiring. So there are three possibilities, right?

1. You shorted something temporarily while you were working, and blew a fuse.

2. You wired something up wrong, and blew a fuse when you powered up.

3. You wired something up wrong, and caused component damage when you powered up.

How confident are you that you wired everything up right? If I were not confident, I'd return everything to stock first, before I did anything else.

You did disconnect the battery while you were working on the wiring, right? Whether or not you did, that's a practice you need to adopt from now on.

Then, I'd check the fuse boxes first, and see what's blown. Could be multiple fuses.

Then I'd replace any blown fuses and power up again.

If I returned wiring to complete stock configuration, left the battery disconnected long enough for all the computers to reset, made sure all the fuses were good, and still had lights on when I powered everything up, I'd come to the unfortunate conclusion that I might have damaged one of the circuit boards - though a loose/broken connector is also a possibility.

You'll need a code reader to see what the diagnostics are telling you. If one of the boards/computers/control-units is returning a "failed" diagnostic, I'd check continuity of all its leads, triple check I didn't cross wire anything, and if that test passed, I'd try and locate a replacement from a wrecking yard.

The battery was disconnected, and everything has been turned back to stock, and its still doing it....how ling do i have to leave the neg cable off for the comp to reset?

 

I think it's about time to take it somewhere.

 

similar thing happened to my friends 05 Dodge Ram when he had the Drivers side door removed. All the problem lights were on, Turned out to just be a fuse. if its not that then get it checked out.

 

Getting ready to do the mod, want to see how you make out here. Retrace all of your steps, with truck running good I have a hard time believing you fried anything, but possible i suppose. I hope you get it figured out without having to unload any $$. I'd be tempted to get the codes scanned at autozone or something first to make sure you aren't missing something simple. problem solved!!!!!! after hrs of looking in the black fuse box and checking each fuse by eye, i decided to break out my test light, checked all of them, and there all good, so i also decided to check by eye under the dash once more, they looked fine.....so i tried the test light again, and it was a freaking 10A fuse that powered all of that crap! so lesson learned: always use the test light first!

however i am not going to re-attempt to do this mod, because i also found out today it is illegal to run fogs without headlights on in my state....
