be sure to check your belts every now and then. I changed my supercharger belt and 10k miles later, it was cracked to hell. Had to make toyota do a part warranty.

thanks for the tips guys! And I will check my pulleys when I go to change the belt. I hope none of them are bad. But alot of members have had to replace either there Tensioner pulley or a idler. I hope I dont!

If it is one of the idler pulleys, bc the sound does seem to be coming from the passeger side.
But if it is, how hard are they to cange?

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
They are 12 mm on fan clutch, and.... they easily round off. One advice I would give is to get 12 mm 6 point wrench to work on them. Its harder to round em off that way :)

Just fyi... once you get the belt off spin the idlers and if they have no resistance and sound like a roller skate, that means it needs replacement. Its not hard ro replace them. Simple R&R.

After replacing my belts the squealing under my hood came back. Did a little research, it sounds like its pretty common for the #2 pulley to go out (passenger side top). My mechanic said i should replace the pulleys (all 3), and he would sell them to me at coast, $30 each. I decided to take off my old pulleys give them a good clean out and re grease. The squeal is gone didn't cost me a cent! I can do a write up if needed but Google and Youtube are your friend.

Thats how I found out mine were bad. Took the belt off and gave them a good spin. Like stated above it sounds like a roller skate. They are easy to replace but you can just clean out and re grease as well.

I will have to try this... Thanks Matt!
What If its the Tensioner? can I still take it out and clean/re-grease it?

Not to sure about the tensioner. If your going to pull off your pulleys just be careful there is a rubber seal that sits ontop of your bearings. I bought a set of small screw drivers and and picks. Use the pick on the outside of the rubber seal to get it off.

it's easy to change one of the idler pulleys, just one bolt holds it on, take the old one off and put the new one on, pretty simple, i doubt it's your tennsioner, at least hope it isn't cause i hear they're a mother to change, it's more than likely one of your idler pulleys, they're pretty cheap less than $50ea from my local parts store
