Charcoal Cabin Filter?

Is there a charcoal cabin filter available for 2nd gen. Tacomas?

This official-looking Toyota flyer (page 2) lists a bunch of PNs for charcoal cabin filters, but none for the Tacoma.

Would the 4Runner filter fit?

 

I am sure there are folk on here with both that could tell you.
I am also sure, a filter's a filter's a filter. If you can get a nice parts guy to pull a bunch of likely suspects off a shelf and compare em to the non carbon type. I had some car once that the only aftermarket air filter was like from a dodge truck with 2mm taken of the edges with a razor.

For what do you suspect you want a carbon filter? Should I want one? I wouldn't worry about it unless I had a bunch of NH3 I had to get rid of. Maybe i's ignaint. Even the flier doesn't say what it would do. Seems like the regular ones have bases covered. And, to me anyway, bases I already don't care about.

 

The standard filter traps particulates just fine. The charcoal filter can remove some of the bad odors outside (when you drive past a garbage truck or smelly restaurant, etc.). I'm just surprised Toyota maintains separate PNs for the Tacoma and 4Runner, considering the high degree of commonality.

 

yea, but the interiors are different, and that's where the filter is.

I suppose if you lived in houston it might be worth any relief you can get... but if you lived there, you probably don't smell it anymore.

Knowing a little bit about it I can't see it would have ANY effect on fresh air, but maybe if you had recirc on with windows closed for a long time.

That being said. Get some GAC and coat the INLET side of the filter with it.
