tie downs up front

anyone ever install tie downs like the factory ones in the rear of the bed to the two bed bolts up front near the cab?
are those bolts screwed to the frame or is there a nut under there? I need to haul a motorcycle and I don't trust those plastic side tie downs. Thanks

The ones in the front go into the frame. The only thing that I don't like is that the rings won't spin around if you install them there.

I'd install some other d-rings with a large backer plate.

You're right to not trust those rings. I think they're only rated for 125#.

I installed the factory ones on the vertical sides as the instructions show as I didn't want to cut my bed mat to make them work. I wouldn't trust the bed rail system to hold a bike just with straps to the tie downs either. There are some products that are like wheel chocks that mount to the rail system that seem to work. Do a search on here and you ought to find them.

Here's the link from this sight.

I ordered the factory ones when the dealer sent me a coupon book for 20% off. Here's some factory ones.

if you remove the front bolts you don't have to cut the washer off, you can press it off with a vise, or a large socket, a block of wood and a BFH. I put D-Rings on all the bed bolts as you never know where you need to tie down to. The bed rail system is about a joke, I can watch it flex when I strap a cooler down to it.
