Keep in mind that we recently re-designed our 05+ Tacoma rock guards!

They still have our signature "kickout" design, but are now made from .134 wall tubing, have 2" square legs and a new mounting system (see attached pic). The rear 3 legs are attached to a L-bracket that runs along the weaker c-channel portion of the frame adding support and requires minimal drilling.

Also, we angle ours up to provide the most ground clearance possible and they are gusseted for added strength. They now fit Access Cabs with no modification required, and pinch weld notching is no longer needed to install these.

x2 for CBI, i've got their front and rear bumpers so I know they make quality stuff. They have a good design on their kick outs as well.

all pro also makes quality sliders as well.

either way, you can't go wrong

I have stubbs but will be getting some All Pro ones soon.

Not to say stubbs isn't a good company, but I really like the new design of the All Pro ones! Also I have started seeing the need for a larger kickout like AP has. A buddy of mine with an FJ bought some and DAM are they built great. Lines of pennies for welds

So I am also in the market for sliders as well and did not want to start another thread. Here is my questions. As far as quality every one seems to use close to the same steel or sizes so I guess it just comes down to design and craftsman ship?

Also it seems that some people are really attached to the manufacturing company and I can not help but wonder if that could sway there opinion. Dont get me wrong because I like when the manu takes responsibility or stands behind a product, but I wonder if there really are major differences. Are there any real technical guys who could lay out the diff between maybe avid, relentless, all pro, stubbs, and a couple other top names? Cause from my stand point all I really see is price, cost to ship, bolt on or not bolt on availability, and # of die hard customers?

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Disconnect the ECU too. Ground as close as possible to the weld. Be very careful, if you put current across the engine, it will weld the bearings. Watch out for fuel lines too.

i've heard a lot of great things about stubbs, I think your best bet is to go with him and do a local pick up. It makes the most sense.

I tried for Stubbs but dude never returned my calls...

Developed interest in some Relentless a while back, but our contact just fizzled out...

Tried to get some customs fabbed in So.Lake, but they started getting expensive, + an hour away...

Ultimately just got some cheap Trail-gear sliders, bolted them on, happy as a clam and only spent about $200 total. They flex a bit on rocks and under the Highlift, but no distortion yet. They're bolted up nicely, no need to weld on this design. They aren't super beefy but my truck has beautiful quarter panels and doors still because of them.

Word to potential buyers: if you plan to beat the shit out of your sliders on rocks and not damage your truck: get DOM, get the kick-out, make sure they cover from tire to tire.

I have Stubb's and they are of excellent quality and craftsmanship. Mine are welded on and thats the only way I'd go. Just my 2 cents, to each his own.. Ron

Yep, don't forget about Adam and his product. Fast shipping and great price with lots of options. I got his weld on dom with kick out for my 05 double cab for $310 shipped. I went wit him based on reviews(I'm a TTORA guy..got the reviews over there before I found out about this site) and price.

Wow. That's a ton of great info. I think I am going to try Stubbs and see what happens but I am in a similar boat to nvdis. If Stubbs doesn't do it then I am going to order some cbi or beefed bolt ons. Also after doing tons of research I discovered that with grade 8 bolts, proper mounting, and a solid product that the bolt on sliders and just as strong as weld ons. Plus if you have to touch up paint, modify, or even repair you simply unbolt. With weld ons your cutting them off. That's a pretty big commitment for something that's mention to take damage. I wonder how many guys on here are welding the skids on? I mean for a daily driver and weekend warrior I bet almost no one. Yet they are taking the same damage.
