lifting the truck tomorrow

I have a 08 double cab 4x4 and I bought the toytec 3 in with AAL's. What is a good cash price to have it installed? I'm having a friend do it and I want to know whats a fair price to pay him? I'll do the rear while he is doing the front

 

It is commonly known that Beer is the way these things are settled amongst friends.

If it is a friend, I would provide some beer and probably a steak dinner when the project is complete.

He owns his own repair shop and times are hard. Do you think $100- $150 would be fair?

 

but still take him to eat it just a nice touch.

 

take em out to eat and some beer...remind him that when he needs a favor u wont chrge him

 

It will be around lunch time so he can pick where we eat.

 

i have an idea...

call around locally to ge tinsall prices to give you an idea of what the "retail" price is for the job... and go from there.
maybe offer him a certain % of what the other shops told you + whatever else was mentioned, beer, etc.

 

I help out neighbors & friends occasionally w/ projects, minor R&M & expect nothing in return. You can't put a price on favors.

I do however have a different take on this:

Local shops around here will charge $225-$300 for that install. That includes alignment. That's not bad. So if you were to pay a friend $150 plus having to get it aligned, not sure of the total cost. Plus it would take you guys much longer than 4X4 shop. Then if anything goes wrong, parts don't fit/allign?

I'm pretty busy like most of you. To me, it is worth paying a 4X4 shop $225 to install. I drop it off the night before, pick it up the next day. Full warrenty, etc...

Having said that, it is enjoyable working on your own vehicle. Plus if you have sons, it is a good learning experience for them.

 

My wife took friday off so I couldn't get the truck done. Im off for a week starting next friday so i'll have plenty of time to make it over to my buddy's house. I'm kinda glad she was off yesterday, I found a new project. Its a 91 mustang coupe with a 331 stroker, trick flow heads, custom cam, NX plate kit pilled for 200hp. I'm buying it today so I can have another play toy.
