Has any of you guys have your airbag lights turn on??

My airbag light went on and was wondering if you guys have had the same problem and howd you fix it??

 

first off,you need to know what code is stored

 

If your under 60k miles you might still be under warranty for that.

 

clock spring?.......something like that.......

 

A faulty Clock-spring is a common cause of lighting the Airbag indicator. Toyota calls a clockspring a "Spiral Cable". You can perform a simple continuity check on your existing clockspring to determine if it's faulty.

A quick check is to test your Horn, Cruise Control & Steering-Wheel Audio Controls (also check back-lighting of buttons). These are the circuits (other than your airbag) that are carried by the clockspring. If any of these are not working, you likely need a new clockspring.

Note: There are two versions of the clockspring. If you have steering-wheel audio controls, you'll have/need the more expensive one.

These part #'s get used on many different models of Toyotas. You can usually find a used one on eBay for around $100.

BTW, if you do end up replacing your clockspring, make sure to center it before installing it (5 turns CW, then 2.5 CCW).

 

I was able to get mine replaced under warranty. IIRC, I think it falls under the SRS, which is covered for 60k.
