I totally agree, I had a 1994 Toyota T-100 single cab and it had two cup holders that was above the radio in the das, you know the cheap plastic kind that fold out, I hated it cause water and pop would spill out on the dash and on the radio.

    OME and worth every penny.
Actually, I liked the one that used to be up high on my '97 cuz the A/C kept it cool. I always put the cap on anyway after a sip. If not, I'd spill everything all over the place.

The A/C did keep it cool, but I am always drinking out of a can so I would have pop spill all over the dashboard which sucked, it even done that in my old 1999 Chevy Tahoe, the air vents would have pop stains on them to.

I think the setup is pretty versatile. The bottle-holders in the doors easily double as normal door pockets. In the '10s, the two cup holder inserts in front of the shifter can easily (too easily...) be removed to reveal a normal cubby. And you can convert a cupholder into an organizer with a CellCup from Amazon.Com.

Look at the 2000 model audi a4, s4 a6 and a8...all were factory equipped with a pop out cup holder that should've been called a cup launcher...

    i only have two . . . and they both suck . . .

i guess they were making up for the lack of cupholders in the 1st gen by filling the 2nd gen with them.

yeah when I bought my truck me and the wife were headed home and I was looking around and told her to count the cupholders. I can remember laughting thinking 13 WTF now i find myself using the shit out of them...they come in very handy except for the fact they kinda junk up the truck. I have a co-worker that rides to work with me and his job is to clean out all the trash its funny to see him grab all of the bottles.....whats funnier is my daily driver is a 01 civic 2dr and at last fill up there were over 40 water bottles in the back seat.

Just checked my truck some of them are labeled cup holders, some are bottle holders, wtf. I'm not sure I found them all, how many years will it take?

The designers musta been sitting around discussing cup holders and someone said.. but where would you put your bottles? they aren't the same size as cups.

Was the designer of the Tacoma interior an alcoholic? Maybe, but it certainly didn't impair his design.

You have to remember that most Tacomas are extremely versatile vehicles. They're more than capable onroad and offroad, especially four wheel drive trucks. They're used in rallys, desert racing, and rock crawling applications.

More often then not, you might find yourself out in the desert, or in the middle of nowhere without a clean source of water, or a 7-11. Even if you're not, you're probably on the road loading/hauling/towing for hours at a time. We get thirsty.

With extra cup holders, you'll have plenty to drink without bottles rolling around every turn you make, or make extra stops. Especially if you have a cooler strapped in the back. :p

I have to admit, when I saw all the holders, I laughed. But it's definately not a flaw. They're all where they're suppose to be, they're not ugly, and they're functional.

    Cheers.
