Thanks, all. Yes, 8 hours was a bit too long. But having to change bits and go back to hardware store for new one eats time.

Any reason why you went with the bolt on compared to the weld on?

Now that the install is complete would you still advise the bolt on?

Yeah, I wanted to be able to remove the sliders at my discretion. Seemed like a good idea that something that is designed to take abuse and such should be able to be easily replaced. And I don't know how to weld, either.

I would still advise on the bolt on. If I were going to do it again, I would just start off with the cobalt bit.

Hey all I am just getting ready to install these and noticed that you recommended a 1/2" drill bit. The instructions I got from Demello says to use a 9/16" drill bit so I am wondering if the instructions have changed or if there was a lesson here where you found 1/2" to work better.

    Thanks.

You should be fine with either drill bit. My recollection is that the directions said to use 1/2", so maybe they've changed for some reason. There isn't much difference in the two bit sizes. The bigger bit might give you extra wiggle room for threading the bolts and aligning all of the holes.
