Real World Gas Mileage

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I'm currently a frontier driver but am in need of a new vehicle and the Tacoma is my #1 choice right now. I will be doing a lot of in town driving and I need to know what kind of mileage to expect. I'm looking at a crew cab 4x4. Let me know what to expect. Thanks!

 

Thanks. But your sig just says avg. What is avg to you? Do you drive much in town and in traffic? Is your commute long? I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible to help make my decision.

15-16 mpg all city, spirited driver. I have 265/75/16 all terrain tires and a lift.

My 09DC gets around 15-16 with mostly in-town driving, will get 20-21 hiway @ 65-70mph, and avg falls into the ranges above depending on the city/hiway miles mix for that tank.

I'm not totally stock, but my milage hasn't changed much since new. I have 265/70-16 tires, TSB springs, Billys at .85 lift, and an AFe drop-in filter.

 

Mine is brand new and bone stock with less than 500 miles on it. I drive 50/50 City/Hwy. After checking mileage on it, I am getting 16 mpg. Now, This truck isn't broke in and still has non-synthetic oil in it. Also, I've been hoggin on it a time or two. Basically, not practicing Mileage saving techniques.

I have an AirPro S on the way and after I break it in and the rings seat fully, I will switch to Synthetic, probably Mobil One.

Only time will tell what mileage will be. I am hoping for at least 20 but who knows.

Mines a manual but i get about 17.5 with 55-60 mile round trip a day with about 5 of those miles being in city, 40 miles in the 70-75 mph, and and the rest stop and go traffic. I don't usually speed but get to the speed limit pretty quickly so factor in 4-5 rpms in 1 and 2nd gear in my daily mpg.

Edit* mines completely stock except for a hard cover.

 

My 09 six speed 4x4 DC got about 18mpg average with 70hwy, 30 city. All hwy, at about 65mph, I got about 21mpg. All city got about 16mpg. My mileage didn't improve until after about 5K miles. Brand new, I was getting about 16-17mpg.

 

I've got a 4x4 DC SB V6 Auto. Most of my driving is a 50/50 mix of city and highway. Most of it on flat Florida roads.
My average is 20.8 mpg. I don't drive it too easy either.

 

I'm confused. Do you have a honda v-tec engine in your Taco?

 

In my '10 DC stock 4x2 I get about 17.5mpg. I do mostly "city" driving, which means stop and go. However, the main road I drive on is 45 mph. But I only drive like 3 miles to work a few times a day.

 

2009 Double Cab with the V6 and I have averaged just over 20mpg over the past 23000 miles. Highway driving at or around the speed limit I average ~23mpg. Short trips around the city are generally 16-17mpg. But my average on almost every individual tank has been around 20mpg and my driving could probably be looked at as being about 50/50 city/highway.

 

16ish all city driving, about 21 all highway driving for me... varies a bit with weather (worse in winter) and speed.

i usually can get close to 20 hwy, 17 town.

 

Stock '10 DC 4x4, averaging almost 19 mpg per gallon through the first 3 measureable fillups at the same pump. I expect it to increase a bit as it breaks in (less than 2,000 miles right now). My driving is 75% interstate at 75 mph. If I could drive extended highway miles at 60 mph or so, I would expect 20 mpg or more.

 

Pure stock, 2010 V-6, Automatic, 4WD, Double Cab... see my fuelly at the bottom? That is the average and represents mostly around town with some highway (16.7 mpg).

If just in town, then closer to 16.0... If just on the highway, 17.5-19.5... at California highway speeds (70-80 mph).

 

real world... stock 08' DC TRD sport LB auto, we can get about 520kms / $55.00cdn fill up. about 70% city 30% highway

 

Around 17-18mpg in the winter mixed highway and rural backroads. Summertime, it's around 18-19. 20-21.5mpg all highway in the summer.
