The Off road version has the same seats as the sport. they are TRD seats, different than the SR5 and base model.

You haven't done that mod yet?

Yes, but it seems the Off Road doesn't come Double Cab Long Bed

As a side note: I might stop being a TW member soon due to being in jail for killing my wannabe drummer neighbor... :infantry: :rimshot:

Highly doubt there will be a new model for 2012 seeing as you'd probably start seeing 2012 models mid 2011. There would have been at least likely been some spy shots or something if there was one that close to being out.

Have you seen the new Trail Edition 4Runner? If I were to place the 3 moderately priced offroad platforms Toyota offers now best to worst it would be in this order

    1: 4Runner TE
    2: FJ Cruiser
    3: Tacoma TRD Offroad

    Manual transfer case=Win!

Ok back to the original post. If there is nothing wrong with your 06 why in the hell would you jump back into a car payment? If I were to buy a new truck it would be because there was something seriously wrong with the current one or I needed something different.

Tacoma's have one of the best resale values out there, so you wont loo$e that much. I had the same question when I bought my 2011, and got a simular answer from toyota. But do you really want to buy the first year of a redesign? Ill take the 2nd or 3rd year in after they correct all the issues and all the mods are available!

Im not jumping into a car payment just for the hell of it. Im just not interested in spending repair money into a car im still paying. It it was mod money, then sure, lets spend thousands, but repair? HELL NO.

Dollars to donuts that when the redesign finally comes out, you will no longer be able to get a std. cab 4x4.

    serious!!

there are plenty of thread, 12 to 13 is the agreed upon answer, but who really knows...12 seems to follow the 2 year after 4runner change we have seen, but 13 follows the 4 year run like 01-04 year tacomas..

This is true. I bought mine used, and in a funny way... I can still sell it for the same I bought it for after 2 years of use. Actually, I can sell it for 1k more than I paid for according to the sales of these trucks in the classifieds. The 2006 anyhow.

I read elsewhere that the re-design will be for 2012 as well. Judging by the 2010 4Runner and the 2011 Highlander, I'm willing to bet the new Tacoma will have a similar looking front end to the new re-designed models.

Even if the redesign came out in 2012 I would not rush out and buy it.....how long did it take Toyota to work the kinks out of the 2nd gen?...By 2007/2008 ?

I'm thinking the changes would be mostly cosmetic. Look at the 4Runner, it's on a stretched FJ platform and the Highlander is basically cosmetic changes.

I was hoping the 3rd generation would be unibody FWD truck with power to the rear on front traction loss. I want a factory knobby tires and factory 3 inch body lift. I want interior mood lighting. Lastly it needs a big offroad sticker to top it off.

All joking aside, if Toyota would just sell basic vehicles like the rest of the world I would buy in an instant, e.x. base Land Cruiser, basic HiLux , prado, land cruiser 70, etc. If the Tacoma gets any bigger then it won't fit in my garage. I'm not gonna get rid of my work bench. They should bring back the compact.

I have 11 yr old Nissan that I would gladly trade for a new basic Toyota truck w/a small turbo diesel. Otherwise I'll just not buy anything. Even though the Mahindra is ugly, may never reach the states, and is somewhat Americanized it is still appealing given than it is just suppose to be only a truck (with a turbo diesel).

Toyota can stop trying to sell us the overly dramatic offroad plastic looking vehicles that usually aren't even 4wd. Keep it simple stupid with a price to match.
