lookin at gettin 5100s

Hey everyone. this may have been covered but i had to ask again. I am looking at getting 5100s all around for my tacoma. do i need to buy new coils for the front as well? or do most people just use the stock coils? Just a little confused on the situation and would appreciate some input. any and all recommendations are appreciated as well. thanks

I used my stock coils and set the shocks at 1.75 and 1.5 aal in the rear so it still has a little rake and doesn't sag with a load. I have the eibach coils that I may install soon, haven't decided yet.

 

Isn't a spacer lift kit just as good and cheaper?

 

thats what i was lookin at doin next weekend with the aals. then after that it is 5100s. time to give myself a christmas present. haha

 

and don't forget the taco lean spacer.

 

i have the spacer lift but the ride is a little stiffer than what i want so i think i am going to take those off and slap the 5100s on there and then save for a legit 3 inch lift instead of a cheap mans lift with spacers.

 

i havent heard of the taco lean spacer. enlighten me haha

 

Just installed 5100s all around at 1.75 and 1.5 aal on non tsb leafs... sits with a little rake, took me 5-6 hrs ish for me to install it in my driveway with just hand tools. The ride is amazing. Feel the small bumps a lil more but the bigger hits are smoother and more controled. Id def suggest it... and if u want to go higher later u can add coils and UCA's

Edit: I also added the 1/4" spacer on the driver side, because I was sitting a half inch lower on that side (haven't measured what im at now yet)

Spacers are cheaper but definitely not better. The more you preload the coils, with spacers or 5100's, the stiffer the ride gets. 5100's help offset the stiffness of lifting with them by being a much better shock than stock.

 

This:

corrects the lean from the weight of the battery, gas tank, and driver.

X2, I love the ride, I think it is much improved over stock.

 

gotcha!!! i actually think i have those on my toytek spacer lift. is that the same thing

 

Ya, im using stock coils for now until I need new tires.

 

The single lean spacer sits on top of the coilover. Its not like the spacer lift which sits between the coilspring and top plate of the shock.

 

Where did you buy the 5100's and how much? I am thinking about buying myself a X-mas gift.
