Short box vs Long box

So you like the short bed stock and lifted , better than the longbed , but you bought a longbed ?

Well, those short beds can almost have room for a spare tire. That is if they don't put oversized tires on them. lol!

 

as far as looks, it's not even close.

he said for looks... not utility.

utility = long bed (although i'd bet most people don't use their bed enough for it to matter)
looks = short (not even close in this regard)

 

Long bed. I need a truck to be a truck first.

 

Long bed is actually standard bed, short bad is a result of factory accident, they set metal knife at the press few inches to short and end up with bunch of bed pieces that were too short so they mount them on the truck and called short bed

 

cool... sometimes great things come from accidents! a definite improvement looks wise.

 

I thought it was mandatory to have tail / brake lights , so Toyota created the smallest bed legally allowable so they could hang the lights back there ,

lets see one of each side by side to see how much longer or shorter they are, but i did vote long as thats what im leaning toward getting, noob here and still undecided!

 

Get a Long bed/ standard size bed then a short bed man.

 

Long is about 12" longer that the short. Everything else is the same except for bed length. Cab size is the same. The weight capacity is the same for both except the LB itself weighs more so that subtracts from the cargo capacity. Which means if you get a LB you can actually put LESS weight in the bed rather than more. Which just seems stupid to me unless you have something long and light to carry.

Meanwhile with the SB you can just stack up more weight and strap it down.

So in reality, if you need to haul heavier items (which is what a truck is for) then you need the SB.

 

Double Cab Long Bed... Try adding a box to your short bed and see where that gets you.

I noticed someone compared the short bed double cabs to the explorer sport trac... too true.

 

Why not just buy one of each?

 

Never! I like Fords but the sport trac reminds me of the moped and fat chicks analogy - There fun to ride but you don't want your friends seeing you on one!

 

I love my long bed! After putting my toolbox in it pretty much is the size of a shortbed! And after lifting a long bed it also makes the truck look alot taller and more badass!
