Tacoma remains 5th-best selling pickup in the US thru Nov., likely to break 100,000 units by the end of the year.

    http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/12/november-2010-year-to-date-top-10-pickup-truck-sales.html

    1 Ford F-Series 473,461
    2 Chevrolet Silverado 327,619
    3 Ram Trucks 176,411
    4 GMC Sierra 112,999
    5 Toyota Tacoma 95,228
    6 Toyota Tundra 83,296
    7 Ford Ranger 51,093
    8 Nissan Frontier 36,644

Interestingly, the Ford Ranger, despite being 12 years old, continues to outsell the newer Nissan Frontier.

Likely because its a better looking truck. The Frontier is so ugly...I just could not get over that.

I agree, the Frontier's front end looks like crap IMO. It looks like a SUV more than a truck, no aggressiveness to the over all look to the Frontier.

I know this is over a month old, but I saw a commercial for Ford today saying it was the best selling pickup for another year running. How can they compare the entire F-series combined into one category against all the other trucks?
    Sounds like crap to me.

I never got why so many people buy those f-series trucks. Is it because of their popularity, and it's just a self-perpetuating cycle? A similar case would be Budweiser - so many people buy it, but it's shitty beer. Do they buy it out of habit, popularity, or what? :crapstorm:

Seriously, I bought a Tacoma because I wanted it more than anything else. After buying mine, I unloaded my Mercedes. The only one of the top 4 I'd consider might be a Ford Raptor, but seriously the Taco's tops.

Maybe we should see what Consumer Reports have to say about which is the "Best" truck. I'm pretty sure neither Ford nor Chevy would look too favorably.
I've known too many guys who have bought Ford trucks... and then within 4-5 years are having to dump a bunch of money into them just to keep them rolling down the road. I knew one guy who purchased a Brand New Ford truck and from the day he took it home it leaked oil. He took it back to the dealer numerous times trying to get them to resolve the problem. Finally the Shop Manager told him that the truck is just always going to leak a little oil. That's all he needed to hear and promptly returned the truck. Built Ford... Uuuuhhh... tough??

You know what Ford is backwards right?? Driver-Returns-On-Foot.

When I was getting back into my truck after snowboarding today, there was a constant stream of people (and cute boarder chicks;)) complimenting my truck. Even had the ford guy next to me start talking about how he wanted one more than his ride.

Why does the Tacoma sell so well? They're damn sexy piles of awesome!

Not a Ford Ranger fan but it lives one and sales are decent due to low initial cost and fleet sales. For some reason American businesses hate to do large fleet buys with foreign vehicles...conspiracy.

Yeah they don't metion the reason why Ford is always #1 is because of the fleet business. Commercial vehicles, rentals sales are huge for Ford and Chevy.:stirthepot:
