2006 Tacoma, 6 spd - Loose/Sloopy shifting

Sorry if this has been covered before, I tried searching and there is alot of DIY stuff out there which I am not interesting in.

I have a 2006 Tacoma, 6 speed manual and the shifting has become very sloppy and loose. Its also very loose when in gear. I am guessing it is some sort of worn out rubber bushing? Anyone have this issue/know the problem?

Any idea on the ballpark cost of this repair at a local shop? Also is this something that would be covered under warranty? My car is still covered just dont want to bring it to toyota if they dont cover this type of repair

The internal bushings in the shifter has worn out. I rebuild these for $120 exchange. I also cut the shifter down about 1 1/2" for shorter shifting. When I repair these, I replace the soft rubber bushings with a polyurethane epoxy. This give a very precise shift (much firmer than stock). The only bad side is it will transmit a little more noise at Wide Open Throttle.

This is compatible with URD short shifter (if you have one).

You can swap this out in about 30 minutes. This is a very easy install.

 

Do you know if this is covered under warranty?. (I dont have an aftermarket shifter)
