Wow just had a revelation, from my above, #84, post.

Most of the ppl (all but 1) involved in my ''thread sinking quotes'' are actually sports owner, or base model trucks owners.

One of reason I traded-in my 09 was to get A-TRAC. It's normal to be envious guys, just stop jacking up every thread that has the word A-TRAC in it.

Thank you everyone for the general destruction of my thread.... I was hoping that the technical experts could have a reasonable conversation while the children sat idly by watching. Thank you for proving me wrong.

For those of you that provided valuable information, you have my sincere appreciation.

Based on the research and information from some members (you know who you are) I rate this as a feasible conversion given one could find an appropriate donor vehicle.

BTW, my Allpro bumpers have been fantastic, they fit well, have stood up to the abuse, and the customer support I have received has been 100% spot on… thank you Sarah ;).

    haha
I have noticed that most of the people who are anti a-trac do not have a-trac or don't have a fkn clue how it works :p

I will agree with the fact that it is not worth the time/money/effort to convert to a-trac. cheaper and makes more sense to upgrade to locker/lockers.

A-trac is a great factory option

Its posible for sure, but you would have to find exact same truck (salvage) but Offroad version and swap tons of parts between them. Whatever is left you sell to offset the cost of salvage vehicle.
I still dont think there are wires for it and to swap harness you would have to pull engine and tranny out of your truck to do it.
Whole effort seems way too much for what A-trac really is. Just IMHO

    Sorry offtopic:

This is the part that I dont get, why people want to spent $3800 more on the Offroad Model?
Why not buy Sr5 since its not "offroad package" you have much more negotiation room :D, plus money saved can be put into the set of tires, lift and lockers.
$3800 in cash would turn your Sr5 truck to much more capable then stock TRD OR is.
So way there is fetish with OR package :notsure:

Dont believe me?here is approx price breakdown:
two ARB locekrs + small pump with custom airtank from Harbor freight $1700
    5 LC 80 rims $100 with spacers
    5 35" MT/R tires $1500
Custom lift 3.5" (home made with traction bar) $300

Hood scoop?? I dont have a hood scoop:notsure:

Limited slipp I payed $350 for the option which I think was super nice deal. You can not buy a traction device for that price unless you talking about lockright which my wife would have problems driving it. She almost wrecked my 1gen truck when she tried :D It was quite funny to see her go then my smile turned into grin and it was followed by me screaming "nooooooo" when she narrowly missed oak tree.

Limited slipp was Cheap, and it can be removed and replaced with something much more suited when my wife no longer needs to drive my truck...

now my other Yota is a whole different story :D

A-TRAC is a unicorn. A mythical traction enhancing device that opperates with electrons (which dont exist), computers (which are the devil's magic), and a fancy brake controllers that modulates the brakes on all 4 wheel independantly...

The result is the traction device so powerful that entropy decreases while it is engaged. This decrease in entropy is known as the Gibb's Paradox and requires a Gibb's inhibitor (located on the passenger side under the hood and has brake lines coming from it).

I was deciding if it was closer to the Flux Capacitor or Trans-Warp Drive?

Of course, without Scotty messing with it first!
