help clutch pedal sticks to floor when really cold

hey guys just want to know if anyone else has the v6 with the 6spd im in ct and its cold here really bad and i havee noticed that my clutch pedal gets stuck to the floor for a second befor comeing back up when really cold asfter warmed up its doesnt do that anyone else haveing this problem or any clutch problem with the 2010 ... its supercharged trd done by dealership and they never said i need to update clutch they said it would be fine but i never blew a clutch in any other taco i had please help a fellow brother out ....

 

I have had the same issue with my truck, also I had an issue that sometimes randomly I could not get in to first gear at a stop light or stop sign. So far toyota says "transmission" is ok but sounds like its going bad, we will just replace it when it goes out. Problem is I can only get the clutch to do the problems you have described when its really really cold or otherwise its random. Toyota adjusted the pedal but that did nothing, a little trick i found was to keep it in first or second gear when parked over night.

 

Mine does that too. I believe it's because it's a hydraulic clutch and the oil being cold at startup is thick, therefor creating the drag experienced with the delayed pedal return. My $.02

 

This has been addressed on this site before, here, and for my 2 cents I'd say change the fluid to a cold-temp tolerant variety. Not sure what you mean by "cold", but if your definition includes below freezing temps then a fluid change might be the answer.

 

My 2010 does this. Clutch pedal is slow and stiff.
Works fine though, and reminds me to take it a little easier until everything has warmed up.

My clutch feels very spongy on days colder than 40 degrees. It stays that way looooong after the engine has warmed up to operating temperature. I'd never drive my truck without warming it up at least 5 minutes. It feels really different when cold.

 

Me too I let it warm up for 10 min but they are putting i'n new plate and slave will see

 

I plug in my block heater when it gets below 0 C. I noticed the stiff clutch, but since I've been plugging it in, no problem. The block heater however, does nothing for the rough shifting into first gear when it's cold.

 

I had this same problem this morning. Clutch sticks until engine is warm. Is there a solution to it? Should I call my dealer. Truck is new and under warranty.

 

My clutch never sticks, because I have an automatic.

 

Six-year-old thread and OP seems to be long gone, but it sounds like his dealer did replace some parts for him. I think it's worth a trip to your dealership if you think it's an issue.

 

im in Colchester Ct my pedal is always slow in the colder weather. but I once I had my squeaky pedal fix with the TSB it did the same thing all I did was loosen the main pivot bolt a half turn. hopefully its that easy for you

I just had the TSB done for the creaky pedal. Now I have a creak from somewhere under the hood until I start the truck (a concern b/c anything squeaking usually means premature wear, but it goes away as soon as truck is started) but worse, my "gummy" clutch pedal is WAY worse. Used to only happen in single-digit temps. Now it happens in the 30's.

 

My 08 would do the same.
Even after time on interstate not using clutch.

 

Yep mine does. I let my truck warm up for a few mins on cold mornings and it works normally once the motor starts to warm up
