been lurkin around here for a while and have learned a great deal. i am in the market for a new Taco and am about to pull the trigger. is this a reasonable quote:

2009 DC 4x4 6spd with TRD offroad extra value package, towing package, 6 disc cd changer MSRP w/ options- $30,429

    quoted me- $28,817+TTL.

dealer is in austin, tx and the guy has been very helpful. just don't know if that is good enough of a deal to jump on or not. or just wait till some incentives come on down later in the year.

    thoughts, opinions? TIA

As far as incentives go since its a 09 i dont see them going down much. It does seem reasonable in price but try to talk him down some in price it cant hurt to try and get it for less.

Edmunds or Consumer Reports have bottom line pricing reports, that will show exactly what the dealer is paying for the truck.
I know the Consumer Reports vehicle report will cost you $14.95, but considering it will save you hundreds, well worth it.
To give you an idea of what you "should" be paying, I'd say $28,817 OTD is a much better deal than $28,817 + TTL. And if you can, try to get a blank check loan...that way that can't screw you in finance.

For the record, I picked up my truck for $2,500 under MSRP out the door, and that was in 06, when trucks were flying out the door..with the latest gas crunch, trucks are moving as fast, hence the reason Toyota posted a negative loss last quarter.

    Good luck!

^I agree. Looks like a good deal to me, especially OTD.

yea i already got the financing taken care of through credit union at a good rate, much better than any dealer can offer. the salesman said there should be some incentive offered by the end of the year but that it won't be much until the end of the model year makes sense to me.

i will try for 28,817k out the door, worse they can say is no.

Looks pretty good to me.....I just did the paperwork on my 09 and waiting to take delivery this week. Mine is not TRD as I went with other options and was not a whole lot less than that. Go for it!

i emailed this morning asking if they could take $28k otd just to see what the response would be. he replied back with, that is impossible the quoted $28,817+ttl is $500 over invoice and if he sells it at cost it will be $28,317+ttl. what do you guys think? 2009 dc 4x4 TRD offroad 6spd.

Don't know if it helps now, but when I got my 08 recently they told me at the dealership that there weren't going to be any incentives on the 09s for quite some time. Granted he could have been just trying to influence the sale even more, but at that point I felt the sale was already in the bag for him, so who knows.

tell him thanks but no thanks. long as he knows you have to have a truck right now he will use that. but if you act like you could care less about getting that truck and you can buy it else where u have the power. but i am prolly gonna get crucified for this but i just cant see paying 30k for a mid-sized truck when you can get a full sized chevy or ford for a couple grand more. but thats just me.

i got my red 09 dc 4x4 6 spd short bed with the trd sport (py) pkg and towing pkg for 26750 before taxes, registration and fees. i tried for 26000 and then 26500. no good. at 26750 they said take or leave it. i was tired of looking so i took the deal. sticker was 29700. so 2950 off sticker. see if you can get 3k off or so. if not there are other dealers. i'm sure people are getting better deals than i did. i just was tired of looking for a stick in a color i liked and felt the deal was pretty good. good luck.
