    You are EXACTLY right. I will follow the instructions for my wife's 2001 Sequoia as a guide because that's all I have to go on. IIRC that calls for diffy fluid changes every 45,000 miles so that's what I'll be doing with my Tacoma.

    I just don't like how Toyota "scares" people into spending money that they don't have to. There are a lot of people who don't have the time to research oils, how they work, when to change them, etc... Most just want to trust the manufacturer and change when recommended. Toyota is intentionally making it hard for people to follow a reasonable schedule that keeps their truck in good operating condition and keeps money in their wallet.

    I love it when my memory works correctly (especially at this age)!:woot:

    I always thought it was interesting. If you followed their guide, never changed it, then something failed, they certainly wouldn't have any basis for arguing it failed due to lack of maintenance. I wonder if it was an oversight on their part?
