    almost 39k, I bought it from the dealer with 36k and some change on it.

    I would hope that they changed the plugs...But I would check them anyway. It's cheap and pretty easy to do. I would also check the air filter.

    Deffinitely get those plugs changed ( running longer than you are supose to on them is really bad for the ignition coils and mileage), that and check the air filter and change. Hm, now i have the 6sp manual trans and i get consistantly 18 to 19 mpg running backroads in PA.

    Maybe I should change the plugs before I go to Chicago whats a good plug?

    There's a sticky with a whole how-to on changing the plugs on a 4.0 V6. I think if you search for "spark plugs 1GR" you will find it. It gives the Denso part number, which is what seems to be most recommended here. The engine comes from the factory with three Denso and three NGK (for reasons that no one has been able to adequately explain).

    I'm about to change mine at 32,000 miles, and since I can't get the Denso here anywhere but the dealership, I'm going with the NGKs.

    AFE makes the best drop in for Tacoma's. A lot of K&N filters need to be oiled...which in this day and age, is really just stupid.
