    Definitely depends on the year of the truck. I had a 2001 F-250 7.3 turbo deisel and I think my Tacoma is faster (on the track) than that was. My 2008 F-350 twin-turbo deisel, on the other hand, was a different story all together. I ran 14.2 at with nothing more than a chip. That truck was FAST. And, I could probably run about a 14.3 if I was towing a 8000lb trailer...

    having had 2 built ford diesels i will tell you know way. now throw a super charger on the taco and we may have a race. i sold my 2000 F350 to buy my taco and it is way slower, but i spent a couple grand to get my diesel to that point. stock for stock i think the Tacoma and the ford might be close. built diesel against a stock Tacoma and no way.

    do not get me wrong i love my Tacoma, it does exactly what i want it to but i miss the power of my truck, sometimes i have to jump in the wifes excursion (built the exact same as my truck was) just so i can remember what it felt like.

    Why race trucks? Even fast trucks are still slow... If you want to go fast get a sports car or a crotch rocket.

    dude that is my dream car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice did you restore it, or did you buy it done? i had a 68 SS chevelle with a 396 man i wish i would have been a smart kid and kept it!

    Not a fair comparison, each truck is built for differently. Comparing a one ton disel truck to a midsize truck. It does depend on the gearing of each truck. Sure the Ford could drag the Tacoma around with no problem, because that is what it is built to do, work hard.

    The Tacoma is more for light duty work. Not really fair to compare the two trucks.

    Thanks man...I did the restore myself. I bought it back in 1996 and took a few years to take it all apart and put it back together. Was all original when I bought it but did need to be restored. Not easy to find an original car in the northeast let alone an original 396/375 hp car.

    To be a little more fair have one race down the drag strip on nice smooth asphalt then do one race down a dirt road that simulates baja terrain (on a track both times of coarse). Now who wins?
