?s with fitting 305/60/18

im going crazy trying to figure this out on my own. i have a 2007 prerunner dc longbed. i just put a 3" leveling kit(3 in front 2 in the rear) i just got my 18x9 ultra goliath wheels in the mail today. now i am just stuck between getting the mickey thompson 305/60 or the 275/70. i really want the 305 but i have not been able to find many pictures with these tires. can i fit these tires without cutting into the frame. PLEASE HELP!! THANKS

 

Did you ever consider 285s?

 

I think 305s are just asking for fitment issues.

i am stuck on the mickey thompson and the only options i have is the 305 or the 275.(because of my 18" wheels) i just like the wide look.

 

the 305s will rub like a bitch cause my 285s rub like a bitch before cutting. Also with the 305s most likely you will need to cut and plate the body mounts. IMO go with 285s and keep your caster over 2.6 to avoid the cab mounts

im ganna try and run a 295/70/17, which is a 33x12 AT tire
and hope to not run into the cab mount...

 

The castor is part of your alignment

 

To my understanding it's the lower the caster the less rubbing at least on the back of the fender. If it's angled more then the tire will go farther back when the suspension is compressed.

 

thats what I thought, but my original alignment without aftermarket UCAs the caster was 4.1 and 4.2 on each side. After my TC UCAs my second alignment was 2.2 on the drivers side and 2.6 on the passagner. I could not make a 90 degree left hand turn or a u turn without completely stopping my tire from moving. After i had my cab mounts chopped i got another alignment and 2.9s on each side and havent had any problems with rubbing anything.

 

to the rear of your fenderwell is the body cab mount, they hit tires larger than stock when the caster is too low on your alignment. the caster is part of the alignment.

 

I don't know then. I'm scratching my head at this. There's probably something we are missing.

I figured with the u turn but that further supports your point with the lower caster more rub. I don't know what it could be.

I think this kind of clears it up

but the tilt they are talking about is in relation to the spindle so if it is backwards tilt the tire would actually be forward and + caster number.

 

so when I go to get my allignment done tomarrow I should tell them to get my caster above 2.8? will this make the tire further away from my body mount?

Toe: 0* (if not precisley 0*, it should have + toe out but not to exceed .05*)
Camber: 0*
Caster: between 2.3* and 3.1**


caster i would go 2.9 cause thats what i did and havent had any problems

interesting size... I have 305/65/17 but then again I have 4.5" of lift
