Smell after header install

I installed the DT headers on my truck about 2 weeks ago . Ive noticed that the truck smells as if it is running rich. Could that be because the removal of the cats on the stock manifold? Since then the 02 sensor on the passenger side header went out. i need to replace that in the up and coming weeks. Could that o2 sensor be the cause of it running rich? Also what are the effects of that o2 sensor being out

 

I know when I installed my flowmaster 40 on my 1st gen I got a weird smell, almost like a really really rich burn. I did some research and talked to a local guy and it turned out it was just the "break-in" smell. Should only stick around for 3-4 days, if your worried, open her up on the free way and hit 70 for a little.

However, im not sure if headers do the same thing. Id look into that o2

 

Yes I believe they will run rich (at times) with the O2 sensor out. The computer goes into "closed loop" operation.

Also, if you got the long tube headers, you have removed the secondary o2 sensor and you will need a simulator.
