can i drive it to the dealer?

I'm the latest moron. I drained 2qts (exactly) of tranny fluid out before I realized what I had done. Can I drive it to the dealer, 4 miles away or tow it? Thanks.

Mike

go get 2qts and put it back. You will need a pump also though.

Put 2 quarts of Toyota WS fluid back in and take it to the dealer and pay them to check it for the right level. Or check it yourself for free. Plenty of how to info on this forum.

Mike
May I ask how/why you drained it?
Did you think it was oil?

serious answers only please. I was stupid enough to drain it, I aint puttin' it back in. Does it have enough Tranny fluid left to drive it to the dealer? I have changed the oil on every vehicle we have owned for 15years. I was in a hurry and it was my first change on this truck.Yeah, I thpught it was the oil. As soon as I got out I smelled my hand but by the time I could get back under it was 2qts out. Like I said, I know I'm a moron, at least for today, so serious answers only, please.

Seriously. If you drained exactly 2 quarts, just put 2 quarts back in. Not sure why you would need a pump to put transmission fluid back in. But Jimmy says you do. Just follow the link he posted and put 2 back in. No biggie.

Because there is no fill tube on this transmission.

Thanks for the welcome. I need to take it to the dealership anyway as the air bag light came on a week ago and I'm not (obviously) a mechanic. I would just like to know if I can safely drive it 4 miles to the dealership or shoulf I tow it. I appreciate the helpful advice and am sure with the directions and pump I could ad the 2qts of fluid but I don't have time. I just got home from a week long run at work and have to return tomorrow for about 15 days of 15hr days. That should be enough fun for me so I would like to let the dealer take care of it. It will be paid by the company I work for except the towing so I just want to know if it can be safely driven the 4 miles. THANKS.
Mike

Tow it to the dealership if you are not wanting to fill it back up. Your only has about 2.5 quarts in it. I just drained mine 4 days ago. if you drive it with the fluid that low you are risking damage. Do what you want, but i would either fill it back up or have it towed, unless you like risking a burnt up tranny.

Just get here up to speed and slap it in neutral to coast a bit if you are worried about it. Take her easy.
