Tacoma heat blend door

For the past few winters I have been wondering why my cab doesn't heat up quickly. Well I think the blend door hasn't been working properly. I thought I read on here about problems with them, but can't find it now. When I attempt to turn the heat full hot, it starts clicking. I can only turn the heat control to about 3/4 before the clicking starts. Actually feels like an improvement over before, but what can I look at to fix it fully. I haven't had a chance to look at it, so pardon the dumb question. Just looking for a place to start, or tips on how to go about it. Thanks as always for the help....

There's a TSB on it (although it didn't apply to the '06 but maybe you've got the same problem).

I gotta ask...What's a blend door?

 

The blend door is what changes the air temp coming out of the HVAC system. When you turn the dial to cool it moves to allow the cold air in and vice versa. It is located under the dash and if you move it while the truck is off and ignition on you should hear it.

 

Thanks for the info. I guess if it is the problem, happy I have an extended warranty. 4.7 hrs? Wow what is that now, like $1600 in labor?
