    .

DIY the minor (bolt on fixable) repair and avoid a CarFax report that will cut your n*ts off when you trade ...

The above is given that you do NOT have any hidden serious damage.

I say go with the ins. claim, why you ask?
well I clipped a light pole comming out of a parking lot with my back tire [hardly moving when someone who was on their cell phone made a lane change and I had to turn sharp to avoid her and clipped the pole] which pushed the tire back into the fender bending it and sheared off the center pin on the spring pack, $50.00 for new u-bolts and pins plus $50.00 for my friend to put them in and realign rearend, called my ins. dude and he said claim it my rates will only go up 20% for three yrs, which with the deductable is $1100.00. Body work and four wheel alignment came out to be $1500.00 with ins. paying for the u-bolts & labor after deductable, now I have found the rearend housing is bent after alignment so ins. is paying the $2500.00 to replace the rearend.
The point is if you have ins. involved if something else is messed up they will fix it on their dime not your's

    good luck with your fix

This is way cool. Go stock if you want to get out cheap or perfect rationale for an upgrade.

Sorry to hear about that. Glad you're okay. Some lady backed up into me in a parking lot about a month ago and about 2 weeks ago, another lady side swiped my driver side. I feel like my truck is not an accident magnet. Post pics man.
