While performing the new TSB on my clutch today, they installed the TRD kit.
First off, I love the difference between gears. My only concern is the shifter is too far away now. 2nd, 4th, and 6th are just about center in the shift boot while 1st, 3rd, and 5th are close enough to the climate controls, my fingers touch if not paying attention.

Is this normal? I could probably get use to it but definitely not what I was expecting. Can it be adjusted?

Sorry no experience with the TRD shifter... A bunch of us have the URD kit & the only complaint about that is initially getting it into reverse is difficult.
too close to the climate control? - can't help you there.

My neighbor works at our local dealer and was able to get it on the cheap. Crisp, short shifts without any issue getting in gear.
I'll get use to it but it's almost like my arm's too short and fingers to fat!
Maybe I could pull it out and bend the arm back?

I don't think that they installed something correctly. My TRD quick shift is properly centered when in N, and it doesn't even come close to hitting the climate controls when in 1st, 3rd, or 5th.

You said they did the clutch TSB; did they pull the transmission? Or was it the squeaky pedal TSB? If they pulled the transmission, I'd be concerned that they didn't line up the transmission correctly, although its hard to do that.

Mine's centered too. Sounds like they have the assembly plate mis-oriented 180 degrees out but there are locating pins to prevent this. If the plate isn't located on the pins then there is a good chance it's leaking oil too. Hope the rest of the work is of a higher standard! If it is installed wrong it's most likely damaged. I'd want a new one!

When in 1, 3 or 5th, i have about a fingers width between the boot and console edge. Is that right??

Took it apart and all looks correct. Unless they changed something, the angle just shifts everything forward quite a bit. I'll get use to it!
