So, I called Toyota in Cali on Monday about the denial of TSB-0359-10 (Rear spring) on my 2011. I was told that I would get a call back within 2 businness days. So, at 4:45 on Wednesday. I called back. They then told me that it was 1-3 business days. So, at 5:00 on Thursday I called back. They then called the dealer while I was on hold. Nobody available to talk to them. But, I was assured that the message was delivered for them to call me back on Friday morning. So, Friday morning comes and no call. I call up Toyota in cali again late in the day. They called again and nobody available. Assured again that message was delivered to call me ASAP. Well, no call so far. I am thinking that since I told Toyota that the service tech said to me that I should have bought a different truck and that the Tacoma was not designed to carry 400 lbs, this is the reason that they are not calling me back. I do not know what to do again. I should not ahve to call Toyota everyday to get the dealer to call me back. I am not thinking that I should have gotten my truck from a different dealer. Lower price does not always mean that you will be happy. So far, Toyota dealer service SUCKS! I bought a brand new Chevy truck in 1990 and 2 days later it developed a rattle in the tailgate. I took it in and they refused to give me a loaner to drive for a day while they worked on it. It was only 2 days off of their lot. So, I called Chevy in Detroit and complained. Within 30 minutes of that call, the dealer called me and told me to come back, that they had a loaner for me. Amazing. Now, it seams like Toyota does not have much control over what their dealerships do.

Are you actually hauling with your truck or do you just want a free rear lift though? I hauled several yards (one at a time) of 3/4" crushed stone in my last 05 (4 cylinder 4x4 access cab) with the non-tsb springs and I never had an issue. Along with numerous engines, landcruiser axles, firewood, you name it. I never had an issue. I'm not saying people who don't use their trucks for work don't occasionally need a beefier spring but I never did. I suspect a dealer who sees a spotless truck without a single scratch in the bed probably thinks the owner just wants a free lift.

All you need to do to have a hassle-free tsb experience is to find a dealer near you that has done the TSB on another truck. Then they know it's a known issue and won't make you bend over backwards to do it.

Here's a thread with dealers who performed the suspension TSB. I'm sure they are several in the Pittsburgh metro area.

I didn't contact Toyota corporate at all. I just brought my truck to my dealership (who had done the tsb on a few trucks in the past) told them what was wrong, and they ordered the parts without even looking at the truck.

If I needed this done on my 2011 2.7 4x4 access cab I believe I could get my dealer to do it. I have not had a problem so far, towed my boat (2100 lbs or so with about 580lbs of tongue weight) as well as a few other hauls of I am sure more than 400 lbs. You should pursue talking to Toyota America corp. customer service.

Print yourself a copy of the TSB and bring it to the dealership. Tell them you have carried a few loads and it feels like the bed of the truck is bottoming out when driving with the loads.

All I did to get my TSB done was tell them that I'm bottoming out when I tow my jet skis as well as when I'm loaded down with gear. They ordered my springs and scheduled my appointment. They warned me that my truck would ride like a truck now. I reassured them that I purchased a truck to do truck things, and this wouldn't be a problem. If I wanted a truck to ride like a Cadillac, I would have purchased a Cadillac.
