im in the same boat, i got better mpg's with 285's (BFG A/T's) then i do with my new E-rated 265's (Hankook MT's). i would average 350 miles on a full tank with 285's, but that dropped to 250 miles with 265 E's.

You can't do that and get accurate mileage. You have to empty the tank (to at least below 1/4) and do a complete fill. Mileage is always far worse burning through the first few gallons.

My psi is at 35. My daily commute is 11 miles each way but I have some rather short ones in there too, but also some long ones.
I would say the 1 mile trips are killing you. I would just a bike if possible if I were you.

Lowest I've ever gotten is 14. Happens during winter, defrostin the windshield in the mornin before work, crappy winter gas, all that good stuff factors into it. Short trips don't help. Like everyone else has said, use a little more gas and then fill it up and check it.

I have the same tires (C load) on a 09 DC with Shrockwork sliders, an All-pro rear plate bumper with the side pieces, an extra battery, and carry my hi-lift around permanently. Also have a coil over 2.5 in lift with Deavers and timbrens (point being --lots of extras and weight). I get 19 to 20 in town (short, surface streets) and 21-22 on the road. Have gotten as high as 24 on the road fully loaded for camping.

The difference is that I run my Duras at 45, and fill them up religously when then get down to about 42. The take a max of 50, and with the truck size and weight they foot print OK at 45 (maybe a little rounded, but not bad). They ride smooth and it makes a HUGE mileage differnce, especially if you are really loaded up. Just air down on the trail. Do this and drive like a grandpa and your mileage can go way up.

My last tank was just 13.4. That 10% Ethanol, a LOT of idle time to warm up, and I'm using 4-wheel drive quite often, sure gives a hit to the milage. Next tank will show the results of the new 285 Duratracs, THAT may hurt some.

I wishful for staying at 13+mpg. Tires are running smooth at 34psi. I unloaded the old tires and suspension from the bed and will have to play with pressure for the best ride/wear characteristics. To gain a little milage, I would definitely raise tire pressure, but not if the ride will suffer.

93 octane cost me $3.52+ yesterday. Now it's gonna start pushing the cost of driving my old V10 F250:facepalm:

New 2011 V6, manual, double cab, 400 miles on the odo, last 2 fill ups got 14.6-14.3, but this is in very cold weather, lots of idle warm up time and lots of short trips in 4x4, I find that excellent and will improve with warmer weather and after the engine breaks in.
everybody gets terrible gas mileage in cold weather

This is where I started with my Duras, but with a basically stock truck I found the ride jittery on small road bumps that were too minimal to cause the suspension to fall into its travel. I eventually have adjusted down to 35 all around and the mpgs are pretty much the same and the ride is better.

Handles great -- but like a truck. I suspect it might feel different with a stock suspension. OTOH, I used to run my '06 Pre-runner (DC OR, so same truck w/o 4wd) at 40 on the stock Rugged Trails for better mileage and it was fine. Could feel the small road ridges, etc more, but NBD. Keep in mind that that light truck tires are meant to handle higher pressures. While an E load has 80 (or is it 85?) max PSI, they'd be like rocks that high, and at somewhat lower pressures, you get the advantage of the stouter sidewalls.

A C load level has somewhat stouter sidewalls than a P rated tire, but is built for more pressure. Running them too low is dangerous. Several manufacturers have warned about the dangers of airing LT tires too low for a comfortable ride on the highway at least (causes sidewall flex and blowout danger) Keep in mind 45 psi on the Duratracs is still 5 psi under max. It's also a moderately heavy truck for a compact (with the mods and loads I typically carry).

I probably err on the side of overinflating, but I'm aiming for best mileage without overdoing the inflation. 43 to 45 is the sweetspot for my Duras on my truck with my loads. And, I drive like a gandpa and even coast down hills when it can. YMMV (literally).
