I just got a compustar and that's taken some getting used to. The only thing that bothers me at this point is the delay but it's really not a big deal. I would also suggest you just get back in the double click habit. It's faster than the aftermarket anyway. :)

I havent finished the thread so hopefully this wasnt already resolved..lol

I normally do hit the button twice but sometimes I dont and the other I day I didnt and had to keep my boy out in the cold ass wind a little longer. So I was just looking to see if anyone knew if there was a simple way to change the way it unlocked. So far 95% of people that have responded havent been helpfull what so ever and just say "hit the button twice..."

    Thanks

I would love this feature!! I specifically did a search on this forum to see if it existed like the seatbelt chime. I $#@%ing hate pressing it twice! If some sketchy dude tries to jump in my car because the button unlocked all doors I would kindly punch him in the face and be done.

What I was saying was that the bright orange tab on the lock is clearly visible when the door is unlocked so you can tell if you unlocked it or not before you walk around the truck. Not shittin' in anybody's thread.Just thought I'd throw that out there if re-wiring the lock-unlock was too expensive or difficult.

On my '03 Mercedes, if you hold down the lock & unlock buttons for a few seconds, the doors will eventually lock (or unlock), and the remote's functionality changes. On an MB, there's like a half dozen different ways the remote can react when the unlock button is pressed.

They copied that feature from another manufacturer. The intent is for security so that when people unlock their yet keep all the other doors 'secure.' This keeps abductors from entering the car and allowing a get away. The other manufacture allows that feature to be 'programmed out.' Maybe someone knows a method for that.

The standard keyfob "answerback" horn beep can be disabled, along with the seatbelt chime, on the non-alarmed Tacoma. Search it up.

I have to say, that if there was a way to have purchased my 2010 without electric locks and remote keyless entry, I would have done it! I like it simple, I don't mind sticking my key in the door, and it's a small truck, easy to reach over and unlock. Shit I would have gotten manual windows too....

Just re-read the posts, may be a terminology thing. If your talking about an actual horn beep, then you are correct and I can be disregarded. I read it as the buzzer beep when the fob (un)lock is pushed.

Got it, and now fully agree with you. You can disable the lock/unlock beep though.
