Front long travel custom: king 10" CO, solid lowers, fabbed spindle, heimed everything ect. Rear still in progress, waiting to be put on: bilstein 9100s, T100 axle. Stock 3.4 engine, 4.30 gears.
it is the same engine but it has things like "hill decent control" and "offroad mode", whatever that is, but things like that are already built in which is kinda nice and would be difficult to add on

If i had the money i would deffinatley build it myself, but the idea of it being prebuilt is nice for some

another side is that alot of them are gonna end up in the junkyard cause people will have the money for an offroad vehicle but not the experience to drive one, which could be dangerous, Ford should atleast make a roll cage with it lol

I agree, and maybe if they added in more of the fj stuff like the dual paddle gear box. That would be something!

Dodge is making a version of the Ram that's supposed to compete with the Raptor. I don't know if you can buy it from the dealership though of if it's going to be a bunch of goodies to add on from the Mopar catalog. I know it uses the same Fox set up as the Raptor.

    http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/06/chrysler-to-let-you-build-your-own-dodge-ram-runner/

I'm sure that's already posted somewhere else on here, but seemed appropriate in this discussion haha.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I think the option for a front locker would be nice but like the Raptor no.

Maybe if they did offer a custom off road package. With solid axles, front and rear lockers, off road lighting, duel transfer cases and 35's. It wouldn't be worth the money Toyota would charge but guys would still buy it.

Will you marry me if your husband dies?

Jacking it up that high makes it hard to crate in the new engine at 55,000 mi. However, it does make putting in the new tranny at 40k a little easier.

    x2.

Listen people, there's no way in hell Toyota is going back to a solid axle front from factory. It rides too rough, and it'll piss off the 99.5% of Tacoma buyers in the market...y'know, the ones that are in their late 30s with a couple kids and need to tote shit to soccer practice, from Home Depot, and have a DD that doesn't make them feel emasculated, but that their wife will still let them buy.

Regarding the front locker: Would be nice, but not going to happen in a front IFS truck. Toyota does NOT want those warranty claims...especially considering the number of people on here daily who don't even understand basic part-time 4wd.

The only folks that are going to put up with a locker regularly breaking their front end is people who don't mind spending 45 minutes on the trail doing a field swap of a CV axle...namely, moderate to serious wheelers.

Regarding what Toyota should do: Not a fucking thing different. They have the best selling mid-size pickup in the US and the world. They are making oodles of money off it. Would YOU change things if you were raking in loads of cash? When people are getting PAID, it goes something like this:

If they decided to make some sort of special edition like the Raptor, it definitely wouldn't be done on a model which will soon be replaced. They would wait for the next generation.

I hate to even say this but here it goes. Toyota is a Japanese company. They know best. As long as they do not have the open desert and beleive that their dirt is different (the reason that they prohibit free importation of our heavy equipment), and that their blood is different (the reason they give for prohibiting the import of our medical equipment), etc, etc. They will not be building a Raptor anytime soon.

Ford is an example of Apple. Creativity. I have worked for Sony in developing product and while they have some good product, it is not leading edge. It typically has a reduced set of features (like our trucks) and that way they can manage it better.

Yeah, a sticker, tires, painted bumper. Like to chase a Raptor through the desert with that one. :)
