Help me understand the hype about leaf TSB

Why do most deal with the run arounds, make big deals about having an appointment and bite their nails worrying about it?

There are dozens and dozens of threads about leaf TSBs.

Why not just do AAL?

It almost seems like applying to a secret society.

Other TSBs, I understand, but leafs? I know it's free, but adding a leaf if fairly cheap and a better route. No?

 

Warranty.

Doing an AAL isn't covered, and in some cases voids your warranty.

I had the TSB done simply because all the trucks should come with a 4 leaf pack. After I had it done I still utilized a AAL making it a 5 leaf pack.

 

I just had the new leaf springs done on my truck a few weeks ago. It makes a big difference in the feel of the truck. It no longer has that soft cadillac ride and it feels like a more solid truck!!!

 

aftermarket replacement leaf packs are around $400 bucks and get you only around 2.5 inches of lift. Adding a leaf to the tsb springs gets you that and more for $80.

This. Why should I have to go spend more money because Toyota engineers and sales tried to sell a truck that won't do what they claim. These trucks should have never left the factory with that crappy original leaf pack that mine came with.

 

The big deal for me was that the truck rode like a Buick before and when I loaded it with gear it bottomed out and maybe feel like I was going to piss blood. Toyota offered a solution at no cost to me so I had it done. I would have gone the AAL route if Toyota had not dealt with it but I don't see any reason to spend money needlessly.
