There have been a few occasions when the wipers make an odd noise. I'm trying to figure out if it is the blades or the motor.

What makes me think it might be the motor/mechanism is that hitting the washer (shooting washer fluid on the window) doesn't seem to affect the noise. If it were the blades, I would think it would affect the noise.

Yes, damn thing is so noisy I have to turn the wipers off at intersections, I'm sure it's the motor/gearbox, but we'll see. Having something else done this week and plan on having them check it out. Will pass on any info.

Noisy wiper motor is normal. You learn to tune it out over time like the engine ticking and the blower fan ticking.

I booked an appointment for a seat problem later this week and explained the wiper motor at that time. Decided to drop in and let the service manager have a listen, he was researching my complaint when I arrived unannounced. (WOW) Anyway, he agreed that it didn't sound right and ordered a new motor.

My 2010 makes noise on the lowest setting. But my A/C also ticks on the lowest setting. I guess my truck was built for all or nothing!

    Thread Resurrection:

Noticed mine today has an intermittent grind on driver side. Thought it was because wipers were dry but opened hood to confirm something isn't right with linkage or loose. I'll have to take grill off to see it better. Anyone else? I'm out of warranty so it figures it would happen now. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I came out and cleaned off the snow from the windshield and as I was driving, more snow slid off the roof so I turned on the wipers to clear it. Now the wiper motor is making a noise. The truck is a little over 3 months old and I could probably live with but what the heck I'm going to make an appointment and bring it in.
