Well I basically went easy on the engine for the first 1000 miles. Then drove normally (generally with a slightly heavy foot) for the next 800 miles. My plan now is to do 10 or so 5K (close to redline) runs to break the engine in further, then change the oil at 2500. Anybody care to throw out an opinion on my break in plan?

they also say not to use cruse control for the first 1,000 - drove it to the mountains, used the 4x in the snow and logged 1,000 miles the first two weeks I owned it
I have 20K now on mine @ 9 months -
things great -
still can't park it worth a damn -
my old dodge - no problem - don't want to bump anything !

I won't either. I've heard of too many guys saying their trannies or engines aren't "acting right" so they trade them in on a new vehicle. Leaving someone else to inherit their problem. I do not want their problem.

That and the way some people drive their vehicles. Rode with a guy once who (this is in a chevy 1/2 ton truck) floored it after EVERY red light or stop sign and waited until the last possible second to slam on the brake for the lights/signs. There was no such thing as moderation with him. That kind of abuse can't be very good on a vehicle.
