    6a) Wind noise
6b) Noise from the bed (only heard when slider open)
6c) Doesn't always track straight, pulls left a little sometimes right sometimes wanders. Very minor annoyance, might just need to check tire pressure
6d) Blown speaker, think it's right rear. Hear distortion at loud volumes.

10,500 miles on the odometer, ownership for 3 almost 4 weeks now. I enjoy jumping in the truck and driving it, almost as much as my old WRX. I really looking forward to taking it off road soon, bought it to take on the beaches to surf fish. No major problems, only a handful of very minor issues/annoyances.

    1) Year or Build Date of your Tacoma
    2008 2) Engine (V6 or 4Cyl)
V6 3) Drive Line (2WD, 4WD, and whether or not you have Traction Control or a Locker/LSD)
    4WD 4) Body Configuration (AccessCab/DoubleCab and Longbed/Shortbed)
DBL Cab 5) Suspension (TRD, PreRunner, or Stock)
TRD OR 6) Describe your issue/defect as best you can if you have any.

    A) These are "features" of the emissions control that I absolutely want removed. The RPM surging between shifts. ( kicks up between shifts ) B) The RPM's coming up to almost 1500 while braking in neutral. This stops when you come to a complete stop. If you leave it in gear until just before coming to a stop you feel the vehicle wants to surge forward ( almost like the brakes give up then grab again...for lack of a better description) C) Soft brake pedal Is this combination (V6 w/ 6speed manual) designed to waste fuel in order to get better emissions???? So burning more fuel to get better emissions is a good trade off.....I don't see where that's an advantage. In addition...I thought the SR5 package (included w/ OR or Sport packages) came w/ a full set of gauges???? When did this change.. Sorry for the rant.

    2] V6
3] 4WD, no traction, no locking diff
4] Access Cab / Regular bed
    5] TRD SR5 Sport

    6A] Transmission
    - Seems like when I press the clutch to shift gears the RPMs rev up a little
    - Shifting from 2nd into 3rd is not as smooth as the other gears (but that is the same as my WS-6)
    - Letting off of the gas (usually while in 2nd), the truck slows down (engine braking), but sometimes feels as if the tranny shifts up a gear on its own like a automatic after a certain speed or RPM. This is usually right before coming to a stop.
    - Shifting from 4th to 5th sometimes kinda feels the RPMs jump up enough to momentarily feel like I'm shifting to a lower gear.
    - I'm going from a 330HP WS-6 6spd sports car to a 240HP Tacoma 6spd truck, so I'm expecting different behavior, but is all of this normal?

    6B] Paint
    - The last 4 inches of paint near the bottom of the sides of the truck seems like it was painted over lumpy (galvanized?) metal. Not sure if this is a anti-rust thing or painting error on both sides. The strip is even on both sides like it was done purposely.

    6C] E-brake
    - I can dis-engage my e-brake without pressing that little button, but I still have to rotate it. Still does it's function fine.

The truck has just under 700 miles as the moment, so far no other complaints.

    2008 DC Short Bed 6 Speed 4.0 V6 TRD Sport SR5..

Just over 700 miles on the ODO.

Got used to the odd shift points on my 6 speed (used to a 5 speed)

-Still hate the RPM surge upon shifting
-Same as noted before about 1st to 2nd shift, it isnt grinding, but it isnt as smooth as other gears
    -Interior scratches too easily.
-and welcome me to the club of the vibration on deceleration I would say from about 24ish mph down to 12-15ish. Started around 500 or so on the ODO, and is getting progressively more noticeable. Fuel load, and ultimately rearward weight distribution affects this noticeably (IE Full tank of fuel Vs. almost empty).

Waiting for them to add the 08's to the rear spring TSB, although I'm pretty sure the dealer would do it if asked (going to lunch with the guy who sold me the truck tomorrow, will bring it up).

Also noticed one 1/2 inch long extremely shallow scratch in the clear coat on the passenger side door so I'll take it as the paint is easily scratched (noticed on preflight lol).

Overall, I love this truck. Based on my observations regarding weight on the rear end affecting vibration on deceleration - misaligned drive line components seams like a logical explanation, not saying its right, but it should be an easy fix.

I have also noticed slight wandering, I think its just like a young puppy, and it wants to play, and search and sniff, so its no problem, just got to keep an eye on it, or before you know it, it will be playing in the garbage again.

I have the same 50+ mph vibration, mostly felt in the steering wheel. I've had the tires rotated and balanced 5 times, and the dealer measured everything and found it within factory spec. Has done it since new (2008 double cab, V6 4x4, AT). Extremely aggravating. The salesperson I bought it from has agreed to trade his truck with mine for a week to see if he can get some action. Would the driveline misalignment manifest itself with a steering wheel shudder?

I have/had this. Mine was when it moved in reverse. Stealer said it was my after mkt. radio...LMAO at that one. Just trying to weasel out of it. I take the radio out (AVN6620) and bring it back. They confirm that its not the radio. DUH.
Turns out there is a TSB for it. EG5035 Air Intake Hose Rattle, Part no. 17882-0P010.

It appears to be the end part where it enters the fender or is the part inside the fender. I still have lots of mud/dirt on the rest of the intake hose.

I got a survey about the "service" I received. I told them they need better techs! My radio is the cause...WOW.

For reference: 08 Dbl Cab 6spd TRD OR w/ Tow pkg.

    Now for the squeaky clutch......

Make sure that the place doing the balancing uses the correct adapter. ALL toyota trucks (Sequoia, Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Tacoma) are lug centric, not hub centric. If they balance it w/o the adapter (majority of vehicles) it will NEVER be balanced on the truck.
You can tell by the lug nuts oh the vehicle if its hub centric or lug centric.

Less than 100 miles so far.

I don't think the tires were properly balanced. Or maybe Bridgestone tires just suck. I never liked the ones on my Kawasaki.

The truck seems to wander on the freeway with no load in it. I haven't tried it with a load on yet.

    No unexpected vibrations yet.

I only got two D-rings in the bed.

2008 SR5 V6 prerunner double cab. i am having small vibration between 0-10 mph, whether stopping or accelerating. It seems to be slightly worst after putting my 3" lift on. Was considering going to the dealership but was curious on everyones opinion if i should take the lift off first? before taking it in. Cause we all know they will probly try and blame the lift and void the warranty or something. other than that i love my truck.

    getting there....
before you take the lift off, crawl under the truck and loosen the bolts for the center support bearing in the middle of the drive shaft, spray some silicone spray on the bearing/bushing, and maybe adjust the spot where the bushing is. then tighten the bolts and go drive it......may make the small vibes disappear.
