    FYI.

Dealership told me today that my DC Speedway Blue 6 speed Sport is hard to come by nowadays. I have an 08 with 50k on it and he offered to buy it then and there for 25k. I thought he was trying to get me to upgrade. He wanted it without buying anything else. Wrote me a check and said "I'm serious just hand me the keys." Take the money and go to a different dealership if you want.

He said everybody wanted that color/trim/transmission combo and he couldnt get them. Dont know if that is the same everywhere or not.

If you plan on trading, just keep it in mind.

I had no idea what it was worth. Hadn't even looked at Blue Book yet. Went home pulled it up on KBB and it booked for close to 23k. Called back and he said he wanted it. And he could sell it quickly. He said 25k was the first and only offer. Gave me till Friday to think about it.

I'm thinking hard about this. That would make a sweet down payment on something newer. I don't really want another payment though. Although I do need a full size.

I just bought the same thing you describe but it is 2007 and this story is hard to beleive based on the below. (not that I don't beleive you, just think the dealer is stupid)

I saw the dealer paid 18800 at auction (I have dealer auction access and am 100% it was the same one based on year, miles, color, carfax and location) They put it through inspection, put new tires, brakes, paid for freight, auction fees...ect.
I bought it from them for $20,600+100 in dealer fees and then Va taxes.

Based on that, they are available at auction for less than 25k.
And you should have taken the 25k and ran like mofo.

For shit and giggles, I will post a read out in a few minutes in a new thread so you know what these go for at dealer auction generally...

EDIT-- JUST reread your post and saw the 6 speed part! Mine is the automajic.

dude your crazy. Run back to the dealer and do the deal. You will NEVER get a better offer. Not even close. When i did my trade, the dealer offered me 15K. You would be very lucky to get 20K on the street.

Used Toyota Tacoms's are very rare to find in the used market. Before I went out and bought a new 2011 Tacoma I spent a lot of time searching for a late model used one. They were hard to find and 2-3 year old ones were priced almost the same as new. We have 2 mega used car dealers in this area, I called and talked to the sales manager of one dealer he told me Toyota Tacoma's are very hard to find, he said people don't get rid of good used cars and trucks they like, you only see the cars and trucks nobody likes in the used market, he also told me if a customer would bring in a used Tacoma for a trade he would give him top dollar, almost the price as new.
But what really stuck in my mind is when he said "People Don't Get Rid Of Of Good Used Cars and Trucks They Like"

That information excited me made me want one even more.
you know that feeling of regret you get right after you spent big money you didn't have on a new car or truck?
I didn't get that feeling with my new Tacoma, I got a feeling of relief, that I got rid of my big bus 4 door , gas guzzler F250
With my new Tacoma I am starting to enjoy driving again, its fun to drive

That offer just doesn't add up or the dealer has a retard on the payroll. The dealer will have to sell it for a at least a grand more to make a decent profit (advertising costs, warranty, etc.). If KBB is only about 23K, a bank will be hard pressed to finance it if the buyer doesn't put an ass-load of money down. Anyone in their right mind will just buy a new one rather than pay 26K for one with 50k miles...

Bottom line: if you want a new truck and that's more or quite a bit more than you owe - jump on it. If you don't want a new truck or that's equal to or less than you owe - fugedaboudit.

Thought about it all day yesterday. Gonna go back in Friday and take the deal. Already called and told him.

Might be a Tundra or New F150 in my future.

I believe it from what I have recently seen. I sold my 05 SR5 access cab 4cyl 4x4 with 102k on it overnight for my asking price of $11,900 2 months ago. And it needed an A/C compressor. A used car dealer bought it, fixed the A/C and had it on their lot for $15.5 before the week was out. Looking back I think I sold it too cheap. When shopping for another one anything with reasonably low miles newer than an 08 was hardly any less than a new one. But I really wanted another 05 so I wouldn't have to deal with TPMS down the road. I looked at a few trucks that were totally beat and outrageously overpriced for what they were. The dealers were unwilling to offer any discounts on them too. But I feel I got lucky when I found mine. Exactly the color and package I wanted but with 113k on it. No big deal to me as I drive 400 miles a week anyhow. But it had belonged to a house painter and due to the mileage the dealer couldn't CPO it so they hadn't put a whole lot of effort into detailing it. So it had house paint splattered all over it. And it needed a front wheel bearing bad. They were asking $15,880 and I got it for $13,800. It cleaned up beautifully and after about $200 worth of parts and a few hours labor I have an indigo blue TRD off road double cab 4x4 and I still have no payments.

I wish you the best, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a hidden agenda once you get to the office to do the transaction.
