Hard to accelerate with wheel fully turned from park after switching to 4x4

I have an 2007 Tacoma Sport. If I switch to 4x4 mode from park, and then try to accelerate with the steering wheel fully turned, it seems like the wheels do not want to move at all even if you press down the acceleration. Car also makes some strange noise (Chattering?/clunking sound) I've read somewhere on here it that it may be related the rear diff. LSD oil. Will changing the rear diff oil helps? I have no idea when it was last changed.

Switching to 2 wheel drive eliminate this issues. Please help. Thanks.

are you doing this on pavement? if so, you're putting a ton of stress on your driveline components. your turning radius is greatly increased when in 4-hi or -lo and you shouldn't be in either of those unless you're in low-traction situations.

yeah, i think we're saying the same thing, but i'm pretty sure an increased radius means it takes more space to make the same turn, no? i might be confused.

depends on who you ask. by "decrease" if you mean a smaller radius (meaning smaller cirlcle) then no. if by "decrease" you mean "gets worse" then yes. technically the radius increases meaning you have a bigger cirlcle to make.

Mine made the same noise after I changed the front diff, I was in a dirt lot and wanted to make sure I moved the oil around a little before reinstalling my skid. I was not in a hard turn or going over 5mph but it did make a noise. After topping off the fluid it no longer makes noise. ( I was only able to get about a cup more oil in )

OP bottom line is:

Turning sharply in 4X4 = bad acc. & weird bounce from the front end

Turning sharply in 4X4 on dry pavement = effed up truck

Go read your manual before you even look at your truck again. You're going to break it if you don't. You're not driving a car anymore, and just because you have 4WD, you are not invincible to the elements. Go learn how to drive your truck.

Man for your first post you sure did open a can of worms.

I'm assuming this is your first 4x4. Don't use the 4x4 on dry pavement; don't even use it on wet pavement. It puts to much stress on all the components because there's no give in the ground.

We also need more info on your truck.

If you want to turn sharp on dry pavement with all wheels powered, buy a Subarau. You're binding your truck's transfer case driving like that.

AWD = differential in the transfer case to sending unequal power to the axles.

4wd = geared transfer case sending power equally to both axles.

One's good on road, the other is good off road.
