I have a Bestop and highly recommend it. It has served me well in different occasions. Really easy install and take down if you need access to the back.

After the initial installation, how long does it take to remove (not fold down) and reinstall?

If you want to remove bestop you just unhook the bolts from the inside. If you want to completely remove hardware that are attached to your bed rails then you just unbolt those. Really easy!

im not sure why you would choose that style other than the ease of taking it off, i think the hard shell type is more user friendly for my fishing/hunting gear & my dog plus i think the leers are easy to put/take on-off thanks for the input though.....:crapstorm:

For me, it would be cost and storage space considerations.

Picked up a 3-4 month old Leer 100XR week before last.

Came with carpeted headliner, sliding / fold down front window, frameless rear window (much cleaner looking), reinforced roof with factory installed roof rails.

I paid $800 from a retired firefighter that had upgraded from his taco to a tundra. He even threw in yakima towers, crossbars, and an aluminum front bull bar.

Glad I found this thread. I've been considering trading or selling my tonneau cover (matching Rad Red), for a cap for my truck. Only thing I wasn't sure of, is if I would like the look. My wife is thinking that it will make the truck look too big, or bulky, but I don't mind that at all. Only thing I'm having trouble with in this thread, is locating DCLB trucks with caps. Most all the ones I'm seeing are DCSB, but they do look great.

I have a question though as well. How do these mount to the truck? I assume they use the bed rails to get permanently mounted, but can you still use the bed rails? I know with my tonneau cover, the bed rails are inaccessable now, as they mounting plate runs the length of the bed on both sides. I think it would be nice if I could get some of that back.

Reading this thread has given me hope that I will one day find a nice, used, shell for my 2004 double cab. So far, I think it would be easier to find the Ark of the Covenant than a shell that fits my bed, is black, and doesn't cost my first born child.

May have to check into these Besttops...however I was looking for something a little 'stronger' so I could have the added protection when I need to spend the night in it.

Mine has 3 mounting tabs along each side, and 2 mounting tabs in the front, I think. The rails are still accesible, you just cant slide the hooks the length anymore. If that makes sense. Ive got some pictures of the inside of mine at home. Ill try to remember to get some on here tonight.

They are all about the same. Most have more than 4 anchor points.

Not sure if I already put it up or not but here's mine. Not sure if I love it or not. I prefer the cab level caps but this came with the truck..

It's nice to be able to sit up in the back insted of being hunched over. That's why we went with the taller one.
