Thanks! I was very interested in your options; specifically the side windows for the very reasons you mentioned. Were they difficult to order?

No, just told them what I wanted. The first shell they delivered only had the lift window on one side so I rejected it and had to wait another week for them to do it over. Since I live where the factory is, the local distributor can get the shells quickly. And, just a tip, I called around and got quotes from several distributors, snug top, ARE, and leer. I had them email me the quotes which I had in my iphone. The leer shop came in about $500 more than the snug top. I showed him the quote from snug on my iphone, and he matched the price. So they have wiggle room.

x2, WD-40 sucks. My lock started getting hard to turn with the key and I got it loosened up, good as new by squirting some PB Blaster in the key hole and working the key a bit. I also keep one of those handle covers over the keyhole to keep water and salt away from the locking mechanism.

Here's my 2014 PreRunner Long Bed Double Cab in Blue Ribbon Metallic. The shell is a SnugTop Super Sport. Bought the truck in early October and ordered the shell a few weeks later. Took them 2 weeks to deliver the shell in Nautical Blue Metallic, last year's blue. The guy at the shell dealer was clear on requesting the 2014 Blue Ribbon metallic, but they still got it wrong. Had to send it back and wait another 2 weeks while they re-painted. I think I got the first one they had to make in that color.

Have any of you managed to get the keyless for you top wired in to an aftermarket alarm system? I'm really not wanting to carry an extra key fob around.

Leer 100XQ, purchased used off of Craigslist for $500. Dropped another $300 to have it painted to match. Extremely happy with the shell. Top quality, sleek appearance....

Ha, great question will let you know next week.

I ordered my A.R.E. MX a day after I bought the truck a couple of months ago. Knew pretty much what I wanted already when I ordered it, have had enough caps. But the question about keyless entry tied to the power lock system threw me, never had that option available before so said no. Big mistake. Couple of weeks ago had a Viper 5706 remote start and alarm system installed with SmartStart (Android). Talked to the topper dealer Monday about having the keyless lock added and he said it shouldn't be a problem but his electronic tech is out this week on vacation. He isn't sure about adding the Viper trunk sensor to the system which is what I want to do. He said he thinks it has been done in the past but not sure exactly how. Next week I will find out for sure.

Nice set up. I like the dual roof racks. I'd really like to know where you got them - what's the model/name of the company? how much weight can they carry?

    Just starting...
Buying a new Leer cap this was one of the options. And it is really nice to be able to unlock the shell with the alarm. Technically I think it is tied into the power locks, which also happen to be tied into the alarm.

Interestingly, if I'm in the back and don't open a door to the cab, the alarm thinks I changed my mind and re-sets.

Thats normal. If you want to change that so when you open the topper, you need to add a switch to the topper. Leer has the 'AUTO LIGHT ON' option with manual switch over ride for the bed light. From what I understand, it is a gas shock switch. Get that switch, so it seemlesly integrates into the Leer setup, and then tap that into a door switch.

Your assumption on the door lock feature was correct though. It IS tied into the lock unlock feature on a door. Hopefully the passenger side, as to not auto unlock when you hit the button once.
