I see no reason I can not either install myself (ARB) or have the dealership install a rear locker. Or am I wrong?

So I'm thinking get the truack that available, do my own skid plates and lockers and be done. I just wasn't sure if I was missing something in the grand scheme of things and would be upset later I didnt wait the 4 months.

I dont care about hill assist I dont drive in snow and ice so vsc is of little use I just want the rear locker and maybe the A-TRAC but 4 months for A-trac I will just add a front locker if I need it.

    Does this sound reasonable or??

    Too few to list.
A-trac acts kinda like front and rear locker but there's no substitute for real lockers. Last I checked, it was just about $900 for front or rear lockers.

Its your truck, only you can answer that question.

But, I say go for it make it a Sport that is better on the trails than a stock Off Road

4 months is just retarded, I would get the offroad if it was on the lot but I think I can build it better and not wait 4 months to do it!

    I have a Sport.

I would've liked an OR, but this is what I found that was affordable to me.

I am impatient, there is no way in hell I would be able to wait for a week, let alone 4 months.

I do believe I will add a selectable locker up front and keep the limited slip in the rear untill it needs replacing.

    I NEED INSTANT GRATIFICATION!!!!!

I'm not 100% sure but i dont think you can install a trd locker because it goes through the ecm and shuts off the abs and i dont think the sport is programmed to do that.

IIRC the OR also has progressive springs, which correct me if I'm wrong, are better for "Off Roading" than the linear springs the sports have?

I don't know about the differences in the models, I have an SR5 Option 2 and love it. But I know that I would not be able to wait 4 months. However, the A-TRAC seems like a awesome tool from what I read about it. My thought is that if money is not an issue, I would find what I want and go get it. A road trip in a brand new truck sounds like a great time to me.
The good news is no matter what you are coming home with a Taco. You will be very happy. Congrats!

Do you know if the base (SR5) has the 8.4" axle or the 8.0 rear axle? I want to put a locker in mine too :T

Wait for the Offroad. There are more differences that just A-Trac. I'd start calling other dealers, too. Might even be able to get a slightly lower price on the OR.

I'm smelling serious bullshit over the lack of double cab, auto, trd-or. I've had dealers say the same and then found exactly the model I was looking for at another dealer 50 miles away, just not in their little cartel.

Some combos are harder to find but the dbl cab, auto is their biggest seller, lots around.

Maybe the Off Road is easier to find on the East coast than the West coast? I know here in Ohio it is probably 60/40 Off Road to Sport or at least it appears to be...

    Does Plasti-Dip count as a mod ?
There were 17 TRD OR DC autos in the surrounding area when I was shopping. I'm in central Florida.
I got the OR and don't regret it one bit.

ow yea man and remember that dealerships are independently owned, so they might be lying to you just so you will buy from them.

do some research, make a few phone calls to other dealers like some guys here have already mentioned.

find an OR TRD, you know you want it :D
